Wholesome sounding brand name. *check* Made in China *check* Wholesome ingredients list... Yeah, no. Too many things in there that don't need to be. Sugar doesn't need to be in soap, and certainly not as a primary ingredient. Edit: sugar added to soap makes it more bubbly. It can help with lather production, but will add a drying effect to the soap. It's kind of 'a last ditch effort to save a soap' type of thing to add, and something that would normally make me avoid said soap. I might pick up a puck or two to try if I see it.
Well I happened to be in the store anyway and saw it so I bought one to see what its like after all the talk. I mean my thought were that it could at least be a decent replacement for Williams if its any good....
Well well..... I know the ingredients are not what some call great. But as the things get more expensive and harder to get, I gave it a try. It's seems to work fine. It's thirsty as some noted but with time it will lather and work fine. Considering all it is is soap, I never understood why most shave soap cost so much. Anyway I bought some and have no issues using it. It works fine if time is taken to make correct lather. YMMV... if you can afford the gas. tp
For the money, I will choose ARKO, every time. On Ebay, you can buy ARKO for $1.41 a stick, if you order 12. No Brainer.
I'm pretty sure it's actually a detergent, not a 'real' soap. That's kind of a gray area, and I'm not sure if people care if there's a difference.
edit.. I know one thing, in the US, you can't sell something called soap, if it isn't soap. This is wrong, but it is regulated by different part of the federal government. sorry I'll have to look into it. edit 2.. This seams to have the correct ingredients for it to be a soap, I just looked at the ingredients and at least for the US market, it's soap. Maybe not the best soap, but soap. In my opinion anyway. thanks
A little bit of ARKO goes a long way. I face lather, and it doesn't take much to get a thick rich slick lather going. .
