You're joking, right? You don't like??!!! Walnut top, tiger maple legs and apron. Birdseye maple or Sycamore would be nice for the base too. But apparently, the Princess disagrees.
Michael, is that solid, and not veneers? If so, DAMN! That's a nice table. I agree. You gotta get one o' those. (Or at least the plans, and tell me where you get the wood! I'll make one myself!)
TOUCHE, PUSSYCAT! :rofl I've got the first 4 volumes of "Tom and Jerry: The Spotlight Collection" and it's a nightly bedtime ritual for me and my kids to watch a couple of episodes. One of my favorites is "The Cat Above and The Mouse Below" -- the one where Tom is the male opera singer, and annoys Jerry who's trying to get some sleep under the stage. Gotta love the Tom and Jerry. I guess that's what I think these stupid lolcats pictures are so funny.
No veneers. 4/4 walnut top, 4/4 tiger maple rails and 8/4 legs. I have two or three good hardwood dealers around here so I should be able to find the maple. I have a stash of walnut. Dad had the tree felled and the lumber milled. It's been air drying for probably 30 years or so. Finishes much nicer than the KD stuff. Saw it in a 1999 issue of FWW (http://www.taunton.com/finewoodworking/SkillsAndTechniques/SkillsAndTechniquesPDF.aspx?id=2583 ), The only tricky part is where the rails meet the very slightly curved legs. Should be fun to cut the shoulders for the tenons. The piece was made by Don Kondra at http://donkon.sasktelwebsite.net/ (click on "recent work"). Recent?! Speaking of veneers, one of these days, I want to try the James Krenov (and others, I'm sure) technique of resawing into 1/8" stock and using that as veneer. More of the look and feel of solid wood and can actually be worked to some degree.
