Barbasol experience....

OK, please don't beat me up too much for this confession.Many years ago my wife and I went to a lovely Caribbean island and stayed at a rather remote resort and guess what I forgot to pack?The couple in the beach shack next to us were quite friendly and when I mentioned my lack of shave soap/cream the gentleman handed me his shiny new can of barbasol.I tried to spread this nasty goo on my face but it just wasn't happening so I looked down at my mug and brush and said what the hell.I sprayed a glob in the mug and hit it with a well shaken out brush.Wonder of wonders after about 30 seconds this crap developed into the most beautiful lather you could ask for,dense perfect lather with gorgeous peaks.This wonderful lather spread so perfectly on my face and gave such a great shave that I questioned why I complicated my life with what at that time were difficult to find imported products.Unfortunately as other posters have mentioned it dried out my skin not just to tightness but after a week to actual flaking dry skin.I'll stick with the real deal but in a pinch barbasol works and delivers a good shave.

 

Perhaps for 1 day it'll work, but so would something like Dove soap and a brush.

 

I tried some junk from a can the other day while on the road and had a not-so-great experience. It wasn't Barbasol, but rather Edge gel. Lathered up decently in my hand, but it stinks next to an average soap or cream. I remembered why I switched. My experience confirms my conviction that we're right- brush + soap/cream = better shave than canned junk.

That was pretty much what I meant to imply and had the gent not offered his barbasol, bar soap would have been my only choice without calling for a taxi to get into town.Still given the choice between barbasol and bar soap for one day at least I know barbasol will give a decent shave

 

That's why those smaller tubes of CO Bigelow or Godrej or something similar are so great. They fit right into the ole travel kit, and you'll never be without.

Just make sure not to get confused and squirt it on the toothbrush!

 

That is why my last travel shave sucked and my teeth felt funky..
