It seems to me that an ultrasonic kind of vibration might be a better lathering aid than a spinning motor. Maybe I'll try to graft a shaving brush onto one of my vibrating tooth brushes...........
Couldn't have said it better myself. Does he still shave with a brush? Or are you saying he does use the electric? Ultrasonic would seem anti-productive in that lather is technically bubbles, no? Ultrasonic would seem to pop those tiny bubbles while a spinning mechanism would.. create lather... I don't know that it would even create lather for that matter, but it surely wouldn't destroy it as I would imagine an ultrasonic type would. After all, we hold the brush steady--I don't know how a spinning motion would work as far as creating lather. Perhaps it vibrates or just spins 1/3 of the way back and forth? I'm starting to wonder how the motion we make when we lather works.. one would think it be more intuitive for the bristles to literally spin. I guess it's just another one of those times that science overcomes intuition. Or is it just me? Time to hook up a knot to my dremel..
I had thought that ultrasonic vibration would perhaps create smaller bubbles, thus making a finer, thicker lather. Just guessing, though....
Wow. I've been of the opinion that The Art of Shaving is kind of ridiculous for some time now. This just helps reinforce my thoughts.
It seems that there is a lot of "armchair" brush reviewers here, that have made up their minds before actually using, or even seeing, the brush in real life. I, on the other hand, will keep my brush opinion unbiased – for now Furthermore, I will even offer my precious time, and review this bush if someone will permanently loan me one :happy102 Donations are now being accepted
Here are the steps you will need to follow: 1) Make sure your computer keyboard is clean. 2) Verify that your stock of TSD shave products meets required minimum (in case of another depression) 3) PM me. P.S. I go the safe way – I go with PayPal :rofl
I agree completely. That brush is the Gillette Fusion ProGlide Power Razor of the brush world - overpriced, requires batteries and not as effective as traditional products costing far less.
Ditto, isn't the point of this whole wetshaving exercise to get in touch with TRADITIONAL methods of shaving? Aren't most of us here because we became fed up with plastic, battery operated, waaay over priced shave gear? For the price of this battery operated whirlygig, I could buy five or six elbow grease powered Omega boars! If I'm ever so stoved up, crippled or weak that I can no longer run a shaving brush without electrical assistance, I'll likely execute the ZZ Top option for facial manscaping.
Well, they are afterall seemingly targeting both modern and traditional wetshavers equally. They carry strops, DE's, and straights in this stores alongside the electrics and carts. They carry creams and soaps (soaps for those "traditional" wetshavers, as they call us on their website). Seems this brush is for the california pretty boy with extra cash in his pockets on his mall date. I'm not offended in the least.
You mean it's for shaving? No, I didn't lather it up, but after handling the thing at the local AOS store, it doesn't seem like it can do anything that their other brushes can't. Like the electric cartridge razors (yes, I did have one of those once - a gift) it appears it would work just as well with the batteries dead as with them fully charged. The electric power seems to be nothing more than a gimmick, and increases the price. Batteries in a traditional electric razor makes sense. IMO electrifying something just for the heck of it is pointless. What is next, electric bowling balls? Electric rolling pins?
