    VDH boar brush.

Oh, sorry, I thought this was a "best brush under 6.00" thread. :D

If you call up VDH and ask them really politely for their secret badger brush, for 20.00 they'll send you a Best that puts C&E's to shame.

    But don't tell anyone.

    Rooney 3/1 small. Incredible.

Adding a twist - Travel Brush

I'm considring the Kent BK4 (the web site above still offers for 39 lb - ~ $50 US), or the Rooney 3/1 Super (i've seen for $ 75). In your opinions would one of these be better for travel? I have a vented plastic case to use for either, it will be used with Soaps and Creams, and I will most likely build the lather on my face.

    Thanks,

    Moe

to me, an omega boar that's been properly broken in is the best for soaps.

Agreed. Boar is my preference for soaps. However, of the two badgers you named, Moe, I think the Kent is better for travel, and I prefer it. It's soft and verges on floppy, though not like the Vulfix, which I had to get rid of. My BK4 is permanently in the den, and it takes care of soaps and creams equally well: it's the best badger I've ever found for MWF. It's smaller than the 3/1, so it takes up ever so slightly less space in the kit for traveling.

But, my best soap brush, as I said, is an Omega boar, well broken-in. Backbone, soft tips, easy lathering, feels great on the face, and even the most expensive is under $25.

    Regards,
    Tim

    Thanks!!!!

Thanks all. I've put the Kent BK4 on order, and think i'll start looking at some boar brushes for when I want to change things up a bit.

Whaddaya know! He's right! It's actually $23, after shipping. And they don't take credit cards, they mail you the brush and an invoice, and you mail them back a check.

Not a bad brush! Better than the cheapo Omega I was messing with. A bit "lofty" for me, and I think I like the fan shape better than this more "bulbous" shape, but still.... helluva deal for $23! Thanks for the heads up!

    No problem. ;)

And a big plug for the fine folks at Van Der Hagen- that's customer service you don't often come across anymore. "We trust you- just send us a check when you get around to it!"

Oh, and I hope nobody reads this and intends on trying to rip them off, cause that may lead to them having to stop offering the brush. Just know that you are a douche if you do.

I'm going to have to try this one. If it's better than C&E, it's gotta be better than Tweezerman. Good lookin' out, Rob. I have been wanting to try another badger against my Kingsley Tortoise Style.
