The people telling you to put your brush in a brush stand usually have one they would like to sell you. Just saying...
If you like the Feather blades, you should consider giving PolSilver Super Iridiums a try. I.M.O. they are as sharp as Feather, but for me at least alot smoother and irritation free. Astra SP, Gillette Yellow and Green packs are nice also. As for drying your brush, since you have a stand its kind of a moot point, but it makes sense to dry it bristles down so that gravity works for you and any moisture left in the knot has a place to evaporate rather than settling in the knot base. I'm not sure what your climate is like, but in South Louisiana its tends to be VERY humid,so I feel the sooner your brush dries completely the better...
Evaporation goes up. So bristles down, the evaporating water would go up into the knot. Bristles down would be to drip dry, and if there really isn't enough water to drip, it doesn't matter which way you store the brush.
I agree it probably doesn't really make any critical difference in which way the bristles are pointed, especially in a climate controled environment such as a house. Because of the humidity where I live I take extra care to make sure my brush dries as soon as possible. Bottom line is no matter which way you point the bristles, if the knot doesn't dry properly it will mildew other than that its YMMV knid of thing...... An interesting experiment for one of our more experimentaly inclined members to see if bristle direction makes an appreciable difference in drying time......
Thanks hope i win My goods have been dispatched today but for some reason said i wont get them until the 22nd!! Well at least ill have something to shave by then haha.
I read that the orientation of the label on Simpson brushes is an indication of what they believe the proper position of the drying brush should be.
Now that is how rumors get started. Every vendor that I can think of displays the label so that it is upright when the brush is placed handle down. Also happens to be the easiest way to package a brush, and display it for sale without damaging the bristles. Simpson's recommends using a brush holder, just so you know. Edit: I was sure that I read that somewhere. One thing is for sure, Simpson's does not sell brush holders. (at least not on their own website)
What if you're in Australia? Should you set the brush in the opposite orientation beaue you're on the other side of the globe?
I have heard they do have gravity in Australia, but it may be a myth. I've never experienced it for myself.
Um, Mark is really the Doctor. He just travels through time and buys his razors when they are new. He keeps the razors in place through the use of alien technology. We call it Duct tape.
I thought it odd at the time that it was intimated, rather than stated outright, so it could actually be that the person was taking advantage of a coincidence and did it in a way where they couldn't be held to it. Or, maybe the brushmakers don't want to alienate either faction.
