I just use a small jam mason jar for 95% of the time to store spent blades, when travelling I just use a plastic Personna bank at the back of the tuck. Never used the piggy bank, just to large for using my consumption of blades, also large foot print in the bathroom. Have some great shaves!
This is exactly what i have done as well. My first can was in use over 3 years. Inexpensive and effective.
I use the containers from Altoids Arctic mints. I like the mints, so I always have containers and the lid is pretty secure. Since I always have more than enough, I share with friends when they need containers. These; https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JZLX2TG/?tag=thshde-20

I should have mentioned that if you need a couple of the Altoid mint containers & live the US, just PM me.
I need to get a few tins to use sometime... The mint tins work for blades , but also work as razor cases pretty well also....
It works very well. I keep it in the back of my the drawer by the sink. Other stuff is jammed up against it so it doesn't tip over. When full, I just tape it closed. KISS.
