I was just reading that the new ATT double edge razor will cover the tabs. I have razors that cover them, and some that don't and I have never given them any thought. Is this really a big deal?
Exposed tabs can be annoying when shaving around the nose. I would prefer them covered, but it's not much of a big deal.
It does look cleaner but it means that the safety bar and hardware will extend beyond the blades cutting surface. So it scrapes lather from areas not being shaved leaving stubble and being less efficient. Maybe 0.1" on each side? I usually do a two to three pass shave anyway so it doesn't matter but my other razors give me a bit more coverage on a pass. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
As a face and head shaver I'd much rather have the tabs covered, not a deal breaker but I do look for covered tabs.
Depends on the overall head geometry. I'm a head shaver, and for some reason I have to be really careful around my ears with the Fatboy and Slim. No issues with any of my other razors that have tabs exposed.
Nor do you want to try. A couple of my worst nicks were right behind the ear with the blade tabs, not the actual blade.
I like them exposed to properly set the blade. It's funny though, in my Al BS the dorcos don't sit right, but the LBs sit fine. Because of that I had to fiddle with the blade with the head "open". Off topic but it confirms that different manufacturers have different tolerances, at least for me.
