I just start with one, and use a different brush every day until I have run through them, and start over again. If I shave twice that day, second shave is dealer's choice.
I have 6 brushes in my current wet shaving rotation which are below 1 x Platypus Paste & Cut LE 2017 24mm fan Manchurian White (the handle is made in Australia by Tony Forsyth from Perfect Pens & Pencils and the Manchurian White fan knot supplied by Bob Quinn from Elite Razor) 2 x Semogue SOC 2 Band Badger in Ash & Cherry Wood 24/53mm 2 x Semogue SOC Boar in Ash & Cherry Wood 24/55mm 1 x Semogue Special Edition 2012 Badger/Boar knot 24/55mm
I have two synthetic brushes two boar brushes and one badger No particular order, but I use the 24 MM synthetic from Whipped Dog more than others combined. Had two badgers, but my Simpson Berkeley 46 best badger started shedding so much that it became impossible to use. I have been using it for several years and the only brush I used for about two years. Dave
I rotate my 21 brushes daily............most of the time. Once in a while I will use a brush two days in a row.
I've got three: Omega 10098, Omega 6212 Silvertip and a Parker Silvertip. The 10098 is now my daily-daily. Unless I'm in the Silvertip mood then it's the 6212.
Brush rotation? I have a hard enough time trying to figure out what razor, soap/cream and AS to use. lol I have 3 that I use regularly and one that I rarely use. Savile Row 3324 badger...creams Semogue 620 boar...soft soaps and face lathering Omega 10066 boar...hard soaps and bowl lathering. So I guess my soap/cream of choice...picks my brush.
Right now, I am breaking in a new SOC Boar and am going to shave with it for 30 consecutive shaves. Normally, I choose my brush (10) based on my mood.
I have a large stash of brushes - all packed away. The only brush I use daily is my Rudy Vey / Shave Mac extreme Flat Top. I have one special brush that I use very sparingly, Chubbz 1. Given to me by a very special friend, whom I have never actually laid eyes upon. Chubbz 1 is a short handle, black and amber in color, with a TGN Finest Badger knot.
Being retired, I drink my morning coffee, read the news, then the shaving forums look into the bathroom cabinet and go from there. Boar, synthetic, and badger. All good, they all work, all satisfactory. Some are better than others, but It's the soap, cream, stick that counts. That's where the shaving comfort and smoothness and slickness starts. Then of course it is the choice of blade and the sharpness wanted at the time. "Different strokes for different folks!"
One Maggard synthetic, three badgers, and a boar. I switch between my Strong Set boar (my favorite, actually), and an Ever-Ready pure badger.
