I should explain. I found Boar brushes (even Semogue) brushes to have too much backbone and scritch for me. I prefer a soft almost floppy brush to apply the lather in a painting stroke to my face. The lather should be warm and prepared in a scuttle. When I do face lather a Silvertip or Best Badger has more than enough backbone and scritch to meet my needs.

Phew! ;) For a minute there I thought you might be implying that boars can't be used to bowl lather. I'd have to toss six brushes! :sad024: Although my boars have certainly broken in to the point of being comparable to my silvertips in softness.

    Diversity reigns once again! :)

    Thanks for the idea, Barrylu.

I found a Standard 10 stamp stand at a local antique store. (They had just marked it down 20%, should have played the lottery....)

I'm using mine for both razors and brushes.

FYI, Home Depot has an 8' roll of 1/4" black heat-shrink tubing for $4.97. In terms of diameter, it was perfect and I had enough to do all 20 halves of the holders with plenty to spare.

Did you heat shrink your tubing? It looks like it is just over the metal.

I did not, yet. The tubing fit so snug, it really doesn't need heating but I may try heating an arm or 2 just to see how it looks. The tubing wrinkled slightly at the curved areas, so heat may fix that. I have a lot if extra tubing, so I can remove it if heat shrinking makes it look worse.

Might wanna check to see if your heat shrink is the type lined with glue. If it is, that stuff is a booger to get off once heated.

Please post some pics when you do the heat-shrink.

Thanks swarden43, great advice. I had not thought about that; I will definitely check that out before I get out the hair dryer.

Will do! I'm traveling this week for work, so it will be a few days before I can try heat shrinking.

Finally completed the brush stand. By placing it on top of the Shaving Cabinet I saved a lot of counter space. Furthermore I have my brushes and razors in the correct rotation and all at my fingertips. It is an excellent and inexpensive way to store and display your equipment.

Both of those are great looking stands....I've got my eye out, but haven't come across yet. Still on the case.
