    IMO, YMMV?

I've never noticed a loss of scent from heating any glycerin soaps properly.

Believe it or not, more and more I'm finding the combination of Aqua Velva Ice Blue splash and AOS Sandalwood cologne to match up very nicely.

Sort of a Yin/Yang thing. Super-cheap el Drugstore special meets High-end, viewed as "overpriced"/metro.

Such is the dichotomy of Life. :think002

    white pepper.

Yesterday morning I put a dash of white pepper into a lather bowl and worked a nice lather with my shave den peppercorn soap. I really liked the warm sensation on my face. I'm going to give it try with black pepper. I hope this will not have any detrimental effects on my face.

My uninformed theory is that the pepper would draw blood towards the surface of the skin. feeding the cells in the dermis, but that is just my uninformed mind thinking.

I wish I tried this out earlier in the winter.

So i tried the black pepper. It gave a warmer burn, but the grind was bigger so I had all these flecks of pepper on my face and in the sink. Ugly but again a really nice feeling and result.

I had such great results with black and white pepper, I thought I'd try cinnamon in my lather bowl. I WILL NOT DO THIS AGAIN. It is first of all ugly. It dyed the lather that cinnamon red and it looked awful. It smelled great, but it either dyed my skin or I had a reaction to it. It looked like I had a sunburn. I'm talking lobster.
Well it was an experiment. A failed experiment.

PEPPER is still in the working stages though.

Anybody have any good recipes for dressing up 4711 edc?

I love the scent, wish it would last longer, but it's a true edc-meaning it doesn't have any glycerin or other moisturizers. It's got a pretty high alcohol content b/c it burns pretty good, not Pinaud Bay rum burn, but still more than any other as splash I've tried.

I was thinking of adding a few drops of glycerin and maybe some liquified alum (like Speick and anherb conditioner).

thoughts? Has anyone already tried this?

Are you trying to turn the EdC into an AS ??

    If so:
add some witch hazel and some aloe gel to "taste" ;)
    I mean.....consistency of choice.
Try a little of both until it soothes and dries to your liking.
The witch hazel will tone and the Aloe will moisturize and heal.

What is cooler then being cool?

    ICE COLD

TSD Peppermint / Menthol Shave soap + Proraso SC + Osage Rub = sympathy for the devil. You could have a shave on the 3rd ring of hell and still cool off.

Even colder (at least to me):

Tryphon Permafrost soap + TSD Peppermint/Menthol cream + Osage Rub + Mama Bear's custom Peppermint/Menthol milk (w/too much Menthol... not the standard package she sells on her web site)

Oh man... you done opened that Pantera's box -- ;) I gotta use this setup tomorrow!

Try soaking an alum block in some witch hazel to liquefy it. The witch hazel doesn't have to completely cover the alum or nothing, just needs to be touching it.

Add that liquid and a few drops of glycerin to the 4711.

Good idea, I'll have to try that.

On a different note, anyone ever try mixing a menthol shave cream w/a lime shave cream?

In the summers I tend to use menthol/cooling creams more often and I also tend to use lime scented creams more often as well.

Tomorrow's shave is going to be Ingram + CF Lime oil, will let you know how it goes.

But if anyone's tried something similar, I'd like to hear about it.

Today, I mixed Williams Menthol cream with Aqua Velva Ice Blue, for a great, chilly shave.

Yes! Superlather Tryphon Limes cream and Permafrost soap. I added a dab of Mentolo AS balm. It's like sucking lime juice through a peppermint stick. The Permafrost Blue soap is a nice mix too.

Here what I mixed up for an AS balm:

Freshscent AS Balm, a bit more than 1/2 a bottle.
Shave Secret shave oil, 10-20 drops
    Witch Hazel, drug store
    Feather AS Balm
    Tap water
    Amber paste, from Whole Foods
    Euclyptus EO

I might have add an other EO or two, I don't recall.

I've been advised, it might be a good idea to refrigerate this since it has added water. I think that is wise, especially in the summer. Maybe next I'll leave the water out.

Caswell Massey Sandalwood soap + St Charles Shave Shea Butter and Avocado oil cream

If any of yall have some CM products you already know how great they smell and how LOUSY they are as a shaving instrument.
ADD...ADD...ADD some other stuffs and you will be very satisfied with the performance.
