And it is a good shaver, despite being so lightweight. The same with my Army Tech with bakelite base plate.
That particular razor is interesting in that it is something of a transitional design. If you look closely, it has the basic profile of a pre-War Tech but oval slots which are more associated with post-War razors. (I kind of wonder if Gillette might have made these razors using equipment or materials originally used for the Ranger Tech.) Personally, I think the unique designs of the war years are less about nabbing contracts so much as pooling global resources to meet demand any way possible. The result is odd combinations like the Canadian Tech with the English/French Bakelite handle or the US Bakelite Tech which is probably based on the English/French one.
I agree about it being a possible transitional design and then being refined somewhat to the later post war ones.
