Wouldn't it be weird if umpires called strikes by the word "STRIKE!" These days what you hear are sounds like "STRUUUHH" STRAAAA" STRUAH"
I've watched baseball off and on all my life and couldn't for the life of me say, one way or the other, whether they ever have done that. Is this something that's left up to the personal preferences of the umpire, or does "baseball" dictate how it will be done?
Good question-I'm sure there are many who say "either way". Growing up, I never paid attention to how they do it....wish I had now.
