Cella - Something Special

There is something special Cella that other soaps I have used do not have. I don't know if it is the classic almond scent, the creamy, yet kinda sticky, consistency, the packaging in the cool little red bowl. It has a certain character. Dollar-for-dollar I believe is is one of the best deals going. Perhaps I am being a little "twilight zone" but, to me, this is a one-of-a-kind and unique soap. It has been one of my favorites. :happy005:

I'm amazed by Cella's performance. I tend to grab that soap more than others these days.

When I tried it, I found it to be middle of the road at best. I much prefer B&M or P&B. Just my opinion, of course.

I agree completely, the scent is intoxicating, the lather is rich and creamy, post shave feel is incredible. The aftershave is also very nice.

I dont like hoarding soaps, i usually give the ones that are not my favorite away, and i just picked up two new soaps, but im probably going to have to break down and but this one, i loved the razorock classic almond scent.

I think Cella has the same, if not, better scent as well as performance than RR.

I really like the RR P. 169 too. I personally, still want to try Vito's, Valobra.

Cella was my first shaving soap in my quest to the ultimate Wet Shaver experience. When I went to Vegas and had my first Hot Towel Shave at the Art of Shave Barbershop at the Mandalay Bay Casino + Hotel the Barber Technician suggested to try this soap as well as the other Art of Shave soaps in the future. No regrets and still a happy customer!

I have Cella in my rotation as well. I like to use it on days I go to work since I'm in a hurry in the mornings and Cella lathers up very quickly.

I agree about it being a great soap for the $$. It seems to perform well above average in all the departments for me.

I get better shaves with Cella than I do with some more expensive soaps I've used in the past.

It will be getting re ordered, when it gets low to stay in my rotation.

Most of the classic Italian soft almond soaps perform very similarly. I had Red Tub Cella (a cream or croap actually), 3P, Valobra Soft Almond soap, and Vitos Extra Super Coco (red label) and Vitos Supercrema (green label). I did back to back shave tests with them and frankly couldn't tell any of them apart. The scent, lather and shaving performance were virtually identical. In the end, I took them all, mixed them together, and made myself about a pound of Italian soft almond frankensoap.

I do have one of those kilogram bricks of the Cella soap (the "barbershop" version) that is a soft putty-like soap rather than a sticky croap like the Red Tub Cella. As far as I can tell, it's the same ingredients, just milled a bit to reduce the water content. I didn't mix it into the frankensoap.

If you have Cella (either version), then in my opinion, you have already tried the Valobra and Vitos almond soaps.

BTW, I agree that Cella is a wonderful soap. My Italian frankensoap is my go-to soap for use when I am in a hurry and want a reliable shave, when I want a comfort shave, or for when I am doing some kind of equipment test and want to eliminate any possible soap/lather variables from the test.

So do you like Cella? :) Just kidding it is very good. For me it almost has the richness of a tallow soap and I don’t believe it is.

Actually, Cella IS a tallow soap. Some of the other Italian soft almond soaps aren't though -- the Vitos Red and Green both have tallow in them but I think the Valobra was pure vegetable.

Oh, I didn’t know. I stand corrected. No wonder it lathers so richly.

It was this thread that got me to order the red tub of Cella and the after shave. They just arrived today so I havent had the chance to use either yet. Wow...both are a real joy. Thank you, fellow enablers, for your comments on products I'm sure will feel s good as they smell.
