I got out of the Marines in 1995 and immediately grew a mustache and beard. I started using a DE (34c HD) in 2006 but I didn't shave my facial hair until I joined TSD and B&B last year. I needed more space to shave, trying out new razors and other products. I'm now happily clean shaven .
Its all or nothing for me. I like a full beard during the cooler months and clean shave during the warmer months. Its always funny that everyone thinks I've lost a lot of weight when I shave my beard off.
I've sported a full beard or goatee for the past 17 years or so. But now am clean shaven and I prefer it. I was strangely asked last week if I were taller! I could only reply in my mind, "No, I don't use lifts! I'm naturally 5'11"." Then he said, "Oh, you shaved your beard." Many have said I look 10 years younger now. So clean shaven from here on out!
I've been clean shaven my whole life For 20 years it was Uncle Sam requiring it. The last 10 years has just been me. Can't grow a decent beard or moustache any way.
I have 2 options for myself. I stayed with the clean shaven look for quite some time, but decided to grow my moustache now that I found out the exact regulations in regards to size, style, etc. Everything around it is shaved clean every morning and the moustache itself is always neat and tidy while I wait for the handlebar style to be obtainable lol.
I am usually clean shaven except I'll skip a weekend day to let the skin rest. Otherwise, lately I've been caught up in renovations in my house and barely found time to sleep. I skip days quite often but I don't mind the dirty contractor look while on the job (neither does my wife!), and always like to take a few minutes when I'm done to clean up - and shave if I got time. Man I tell you it's night and day! BTW I haven't had a goatee like my picture shows for about 10 years, except for the occasional 2-week vacation which was the longest I'd let it grow before the itch would make me go nuts!
Man I've been digging this Gillette 1938 Senator OC TTO that I got from Jody....I can see why you don't see much facial hair in the late 30's through the 40's....With razors this good and easy to get a close shave, it understandable...But I don't understand why people didn't storm the walls of Gillette's factory when they stopped making them....lol....Guess WWII distracted them...
I had a full goatee when I met my wife 12 years ago, but shaved it off shortly afterwards after my young niece burst into floods of tears seeing me with it!!!
Last 34 yrs a moustache of varying lengths and short sideburns(never could grow decent sideburns"lol"). I'd shave 12-14 miserable (razor rash, irritation, nicks, raw skin) times a month mostly for work, using canned goo and a Trac2. All I dreamed of for those 34 yrs was retirement and growing a full on Grissly Adams beard "NO MORE SHAVING NO MORE PAIN"! About a yr before I retired I discovered "traditional shaving". Well I've been retired a yr now and the only facial hair I've added is a soul patch. I now shave every single morning and LOVE it! Smooth face and NO PAIN. Other than a chronic case of R.A.D. wet shaving has been GREAT! I can't wait till the R.A.D. calms down enough so I can start saving all that money I heard about when I first got into shaving as a "hobby".
No facial hair. I usually take Saturday and maybe Sunday off. I teach, so I take the end of June and early July off, just because I can (and I like to see how white my facial hair has gotten).
At the moment I am sporting a clean shaven look. But I have been known to try out quite a few weird looking facial hair combinations. Since that will take away a serious bit of shaving real estate on my face, I guess it will be a while before I start growing anything again. Mowember might be an exception, though
