I like talking about colognes, must try this habit rouge now. I stopped by the store before work today and sprayed the PS by Paul Sebastien on, I don't know what it is about it, but the dry down makes me feel warm and relaxed, and it smells so good. I'm not sure if the opposite sex feels the same way, but my wife seems to like it and that's all that matters.
When you say "cologne" are you specifically talking about cologne (as in the strength of the juice) or do you mean fragrances typically marketed towards men? I ask because some scents I like are EDC, EDT or EDPs. Some I like are unisex but marketed towards women and some are just directly considered a women's scent. Anyway, this is my list... My absolute favorite warm weather scent, although many do not like it is... Serge Lutens Arabie. The rest of my warm weather scents I like and wear regularly: - Aqua di Parma Colonia Assoluta - Black Aoud (actually I wear year round) - M;Men Misaki Matsushima (pretty weak but oh so nice in the spring time) - Rose Poivree (you gotta like rose to like this one) - Route du Vetiver (very earthy) - CdG Red Sequoia - Czech & Speake Cuba Other warm weather scents I have and like but probably won't replace when they are gone: - Bulgari Aqua - Opium pour Homme Poésie de Chine Eau d'Orient (one of the summer versions of Opium Pour Homme) - Bulgari Eau the Vert Extreme I am glad Caron Pour Un Homme was brought up. I want to try it., although Lavender is not typically a note I like but now I am intrigued lol I heard Knize 10 mentioned and I really like this stuff but only wear it in cold weather. My wife hates it by the way. When I run out, I am not sure what to do. lol I also really like Burberry London. I can only wear it in winter as it reminds me of Christmas time. Thank you for the thread. I am always learning about new scents to try!
I've narrowed my new signature scent down to two choices: John Varvatos Vintage (LOVE IT) or Tom Ford Noir. Both are very interesting musky, little sweet, hint of spice, and smell awesome.
I just bought a few decants from Archerfire James Bronnley 10ml Molton Brown Black Pepper 10ml John Varvatos 4mlJohn Varvatos Artisan Black 4ml John Varvatos Vintage 4ml Trussardi Inside Man 4mlMy wife also picked up some samples of three Calvin Klein frags, but I can't recall which ones they are.
Hey Guys....you all have to try the Acqua di Parma Colonia if you haven't....this baby was the darling of the Golden Era of Hollywood....it was Cary Grants Signature Scent...I read an interview with him where he says he would buy the stuff in large splash bottles.....I can dig it...it smells so clean...It was also the signature scent of Audry Hepburn, Sharon Stone and David Niven....I think Bogart and Cooper like it also... So even if you don't plan on buying any....if you have never had the pleasure its worth a try just to see what the set of a Cary Grant movie smelled like....ha,ha... BTW...youngunn....Habit Rouge is/was the signature scent of Sean Connery and Robert Redford....I wouldn't let who uses something influence me in the slightest about the scent....but when I dig the scent it influences me on my opinion of the people who wear it......You Dig?
Back to the OP, I really like the scent of Paul Sebastian, on other people, I have not put it on my skin because a lot of folks compare it to Old Spice... I don't like the way O/S smells on me. My favorite colognes: PE RE JA Turkish Lemon Cologne Abercrombie & Fitch Fierce Brut 66 M&L Florida Water 4711 M&l Orange Blossom Polo Eternity Aramis Grey Flannel Dominica Lime Bay Rum .....just to name a few!
Youngunn, if you want MAN STUFF get some TABAC, forget all this sweet smelling girl rubbish that all the "youngsters" wear. Also Aramis, and Aramis Tuscany, and finally possibly the BEST OF ALL, Pinaud Special Reserve (I have a post on Basenotes about it,under my real name) it takes some beating. Geordie Sam.
And Youngunn, if you want MAN STUFF, get rid of the cufflinks. (just kidding, I read the other thread)
Thats what I'm going for, I'm done with all these sickly sweet perfume like colognes. I want a manly musk spice wood type. Really like varvatos vintage so far. Tabac wasn't really my favorite smell.
When I first tried the Tabac EdC, i didn't really care for it, but after using it a few times, it really grew on me. Now I love the stuff. Yesterday I just received a bottle of Everlast Original 1910 in the mail. Someone recommended it to me based on what I knew I liked and it turns out I really like this juice. Best part is, I got it for under $10 delivered on Ebay (1.7oz bottle). Per the Fragrantica website: Original 1910 by Everlast is a Oriental Woody fragrance for men. Original 1910 was launched in 2005. Top notes are lime, lavender, mandarin orange, mint and grapefruit; middle notes are nutmeg, cypress, cinnamon, tarragon and geranium; base notes are leather, tonka bean, patchouli, musk and guaiac wood. My wife loves it too, so that's a bonus.
