Now you know why I lather in a bowl :happy102

Seriously, there are many happy face latherers out there. If that's something you really want to do, it's just going to take practice.

I do both, but prefer bowl lathering :D

Face lathering I only do when I'm on the road and/or use a shaving stick...

I agree 100%. Everything I've found is bits and pieces, and I've been left with a lot of questions. This was wonderful for a newb and the pictures are extremely helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time.

Wow. I have been using grossly inadequate lather with my soap. I will put the steps in this guide to work this morning!

It took this page and a few of mantic's video tutorials for me to figure out what a good lather should look like, and I can tell you it definitely makes a huge difference.

After the mantic video and recent posts to TSD, your step by step journey through the soaps, creams, sticks, and tubes helps tie everything together. Thank you for taking the time to put this instructional together; well done!:signs097:happy096

If face lathering takes practice then I'm all for it...I digg every second of my brush on the face....sometimes I'm a little sorry when the lathers done, because the process feels so good...:))

No wonder I haven't been able to get a good lather. I've been doing it wrong this whole time. Thank you. I can't wait to try these steps.

I have been reading a bit on lathering tonight but honestly have to say, the comparisons you are showing between the mugs and face lathers are quite large.

The shave stick lather you show, Is that the best lather you will get from it?

  15. really interesting, thank you for sharing this with us!

    Tried some experimenting today
    Palmolive shave stick
No pre treat other than splashing with hot water
    Soak brush
Rub stick on face against the grain.
    Rub stick in hand
    Lightly flick brush
Take brush to hand and work it up for about ten seconds
Wipe the hand excess into beard
Add to face and continue your pattern

The result was a 3 pass build of lather as thick as the pictures are showing for creams above. Perfect shave, no irritation what so ever. did a quick forth pass on the chin too, all from the same lather.
