Thanks for the advice BBS. I think I’ll be trimming one of the tabs to get it to load the blade correctly. Also the cap looks like it has a frown when closed.

These also can be adjusted to change how they shave. Instead tightening the knob all the way you can back it off I think up to a 4th of a turn to increase the gap. Just check the cap and make sure it doesn't move when you press your finger on it or else you loosened it up too much.

The way the mechanism works it doesn't distribute the pressure evenly across the cap when closed so it is normal for them to have a little more gap on the side with the tab than on the opposite side with the hinge. What I mean by frown is an extreme bend on the ends. Check it with a feeler gauge as long as each end is about .001 inch off it is fine.

The frown is so minuscule you wouldn’t really know it until you took a super close look.

Then it is fine. It is easy to over exaggerate imperfections on this razor visually especially the way that cap works with it tightening down. If it is obvious from a distance then it is probably bent but not if you have inspect it super close to find a slight imperfection.

59CEE3C1-97F1-464C-99AA-E08D3D27DCF1.jpeg Here’s today’s shave with my Cooper Monobilt. This was my second time shaving with the Monobilt. The first shave was rough but that could be because I used a more aggressive blade (Rapira Platinum Lux). This time I used a Supermax Blue Diamond titanium coated blade; as well as using far less pressure than I normally would use and the shave this time was fantastic. 10 hours after shaving I’m still BBS which can be a rarity for me. I must say I really enjoyed today’s shave.

    Thanks Gary
It is a very nice razor.
When I get a razor that works great I like to have 2 of them. This time that will be a challenge.

You must have shaved as soon as you got the razor lol. It sure was in good condition. I love offbeat razors like the monobilt but I have the 3 piece that I like better.

I've been wanting one for a while.
It does shave well and I like how cuts the brush. Would like to know why you like the 3 peice better.
Yes I got it in the mail and used it the very next shave (every morning here). Used it again today.
    Thanks

Well, remember everyone is different but I got too much chatter from it against the grain. I don't find it very smooth compared to the 3 piece. The Cooper open comb gives a comparable shave and since I didn't use it very much I thought a shave den member could benefit from having such a unique razor.
