I have 3 creams that need to be used up before I open anything else. (Ingram, Speick, TOBS Avocado) Used the Ingram this morning. Was a nice shave with a slight bit of cooling.

Tuesday, November 22, 2011 - Today's the day! Prep: Hot shower; CB Super Sensitive Lotion; hand strop blade Coffee: Locally roasted, fresh ground Tanzanian Peaberry w/ cream Lather: C.O. Bigelow + M-Bomb - bolw lather Brush: Vulfix 2234 Razor: Gem HFT Blade: Pella SS PTFE coated (3); 3 passes Post: Warm water rinse; cold water splash; California Baby super sensitive face lotion I guess I didn't get enough frost goodness on Menthol Monday so I added about 6 drops of M-Bomb to my lather bowl and mixed it nicely into the Bigelow with the 2234. Mounds of frosty lather had me singing Frosty the Snowman this morning and I now have the Christmas music playing at work. Anyone doing a 2am shave Friday mornign before getting out in the Black Friday nonsense? Shave Rating - Splendid. God Bless!
I had to bail on the cream week, the siren's song of my soap was too much to take. Monday's will have to suffice for cream.
I used Tom's of Main St today-what great stuff, and what a drag that it's no longer made. At $4/tube this was a great deal as well as a great cream. Perhaps we can petition them to start making it again. The Wet Shave world has grown a lot since they stopped making it, perhpas it will be worth it for them now.
Jeff "stingraysrock" was kind enough to send me some Brut Classic a while back. Used it this morning. A very nice cream. And the scent is, as it says, classic!
Well I have only used Bigelow so far this week, but I may be cheating; Mama Bear's Lilac Ice arrived this week and wow does it smell great.
Parker Str8 Treet DE blade C&E BBB Musgo Real SC Osage Rub Phyto Expert Balm Music-Mahler's 4th Symphony -health club shave with a straight-results-meh. Hands a bit shaky after work out, lighting not great, noisy-will likely not repeat. It was cool seeing somebody else shaving with a Parker straight. I approached him and asked him about it. By that time he pulled out his fusion and said, "I got frustrated, my barber gave this go me." Tempting as it was to engage in further discussion (I wanted to help him) he did not seem at all interested in talking about it. Too bad....

One of the things I really like about the theme weeks is that it "forces" me into using and doing things that I don't usually use or do. For example, I'm not big on using creams or Williams soap. Face lathering is something that just doesn't blow my hair back. But because of these theme weeks, I'll give Face Lathering Week a go. My horizons are expanding. I received my very first tub of TSD wheat cream yesterday ~ Cedarwood. I love the scent. Can't explain why, I just really like the woody, musty, outdoors-y smell of cedarwood. I used that cream this morning. It lathered up a little thin, but I'll mark that down as using a new product and not being used to using creams. It'll take me a bit to find the perfect water/product ration. Soaps don't matter how much water I have. I stay on the puck until I get the consistency I want. I just gotta learn to start with less water with creams, then add as needed. The results it produced were nothing short of fantastic. Still plenty of glide during the shave, and a nice, soft, smooth face after. I just may have to see about getting a few more TSD creams. All that to say, I'm enjoying Cream Week! Happy Thanksgiving, all!!
I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't know that creams were so pervasive until I arrived here. I know have quite a few. I usually mug lather but for this week I have been face lathering. So far just Proraso White and Taylor Lavender as I found both samples winners. I have a feeling that Sat and Sun will hint at menthol, leading into menthol Monday.
Thanksgiving blessings to everyone. This week has been a great theme and a great introduction to shave creams. In the year I have been shaving creams were not on my high priority list. Thanks to Dean, and this theme week I have a different opinion of shave creams. I have had difficulty in getting consistent lathering from creams. So this week I have learned how to lather creams to become more consistent. The key I have found is the water ratio. Unlike soaps, creams require very little water to lather. I have been using a barley wet brush all week and I have had some really great lather. It easier to add more water then to take water out. Hats off to Swarden for a great theme.
