Finally found a Darwin Deluxe DE razor. The case is a little tacky, but that cobalt steel held up remarkably well. And what a great shaver. Classy beauty with a deco style that is memorable. There are a couple different Darwin razors -- from the very small to this standard sized DE razor -- shown in comparison to a British Rocket HD.
I don't think it is a secret that I really dig my R-41. The friggin Darwin is the only other razor I really want to acquire. Saw one on eBay the other day and almost tried for it but I figured it would get out of range fast. Never looked back. 'Grats Jake, we're all pretty envious. Sweet razor-shabby case be damned.
I'll provide a shaving comparison with the Darwin pitted against its stiffest competition later this month. But initial impressions are that it's in a class all of its own. Impressive shaver.
Alright. I keep coming back to these pics. I'm diabetic, so I can't offer you a major organ. Do you need any firearms, custom knives...? I might have enough silver coinage...
Actually, as rare as a Darwin Delux is, the case is even more so. It may be worth while to look into a restoration for the case (depending, of course, on what you've already got invested).
Great find! I think the Darwin Deluxe and Standard are among the finest DE razors ever made. I'm really looking forward to seeing your impressions of it's shave compared to your other razors.
