**DATE CHANGE** Chicago Wet Shavers Get Together and Expo - November 10, 2011

Please reconsider, I was really hoping to meet you in person. I think I'm responsible for this misunderstanding. I just checked your post and it clearly inquired
about bringing things to trade/sell/give away/show off....It seems the answer to that is yes. I sent a PM to Stuart asking if vendors could come-bonehead of me as that is
not what you were asking and that's what Stuart answered. I, for one, will definitely be bringing things to show off, trade, show off, sell, show off, and
possibly even show off.

 

I know it is still months away; however, those of us who are traveling from further out or having to deal with child care will need some kind of itinerary to make plans around.

 

Wow, I can see I have offended some people and I really did not want to do that. I wanted to address only the selling of merchandise. I believe it's just not fair to compete with the sponsor. Everything else is fine. The night was meant to be a social night where people who communicate online can finally meet fact-to-face. We spend much time responding, sharing, and chatting, so it would be great to strenghten the community by getting together. The sponsorship ideas came from the Merz, as did the room, catering, and demonstrations. Straight razor, safety razor, brush, soap and cream demonstrations are really helpful to new members of the community. This was geared towards people, strenghening our existing relationships, forging new ones, and teaching the newbies. I really did not mean to offend, because you are the people I would really like to meet. I also apologize for sounding legal, but when you spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week doing just that, it's a hard habit to break. The bottom line is this was supposed to be an outing for people with shared interests to meet, talk and share some laughs. Though my heart and thoughts are in the right place, I really I delivered the message very poorly. I hope I've done a better job of describing the nature of the evening. I really do hope to see you there and to meet you!

That is different, and I am very glad you brought that up. We really cleared up my miscommunication! This should be a very fun evening, and sooo many wetshavers in Chicago would really be delighted to meet you!

 

I hope we all recognize TSD store helps support this place and is not for profit-I'd probably buy stuff for that reason alone, but the quality (ok and all the menthol) is what keeps me coming back, and keeps me storing TSD stuff in closets, tackle boxes, shower corners (ISZ PSB), under the couch, behind the TV....

 

For my part I absolutely, categorically do not think you as a vendor first and foremost, in fact I appreciate that you put up with that to support the Den.

 

I'm new around here but am looking forward to meeting fellow and fellowette shavers from TSD more than the actual event. What I think would be great is after the event we should all meet up, have a drink, show and tell(shave related goodies), trade, share stories etc. I really hope TSD's very own Queen can make it amongst other of the luminaries that frequent the board. It looks like the wet shavers get together and expo has taken on a life of its own and should be a great event but what will make it really great is an after party of TSDers.

 

Sounds great! Maybe we'll be on Entertainment Tonight like those Oscar after parties. Oh, what will I wear?:biggrin:

All I need to know is a time, November 10 is on my calendar. Will the Palmer House give TSD members any discounts on a room? I will be spending the night.
