Try Kiss My Face shaving cream. It's labeled as brushless, so it should work fine. Many folks here, including me, like it. The great thing about it is that it does whip up into a fantastic lather when you take a brush to it, so you won't be out any $ when you buy your brush - just keep using the KFM. I can get it at ShopRite. I think Wegmans carries it, as well.
I have yet to use a "real" razor. My wife buys me what I ask for from the store, which is usually a two-blade (which I was told worked best from an AoS employee) disposable. I'd love to use a DE, which is why I asked to be entered into the newbie giveaway, but until then, I will continue chugging away with the disposable. It seems to work fine. The only noticeable stubble is in the evening, when I don't care anyway. Other than that, I get a nice shave from the plain razors and whatever cream I use (today was C.O. Bigelow, but I also use J.M. Fraser's Original on a regular basis). Thought I'd get it out there, for what it's worth!
