I love the new Edwin Jagger razor. Its a nice smooth shave without being too aggressive. There is plenty of blade exposed, but the head is sculpted so well that its hard to cut yourself even if rushing.

Never used the famous '40s SS, but I have a '70s black handled SS that I think is very good. However, I feel the same about the tech as you do your SS. I have a beautiful gold fat handled tech, and love that thing. I have as thick a beard as the next guy, but that razor with a derby blade is my go-to combination. I have several other DEs I'm trying to unload... I've found my "white whale."

BTW... less than 10 minutes from lather to clean-up (2 passes).

    shave well

this funny if you read it as your current avatar :happy097
(but it's not funny at all in reality)

I take anywhere from 8-10 minutes when rushed, to 20 minutes when doing a full-meal deal with no time constraints.
As someone already pointed out, the only time I get any kind of weepers or nicks is when I'm trying something new, or something I hardly ever use.

From shower to cleanup about 35 minutes (usually 3 pass sometimes 4) - having poor vision really slows me down. I really take my time and as a result I can say that is since starting my journey as a wet shaver, and after the initial learning curve, I have not had so much as a nick. I remember watching a video of a fellow shaving and singing and man he was fast and his faced seemed none the worse for wear. I think if I shaved like that I would end up in the emergency room.

I think I cut, nick, or cause bleeding at least once or twice a month and nine times out of ten it's because I'm in a rush when I shave. There is nothing that aggravates me more in the morning than trying to get a "quick" shave in and then spending 5-10 minutes trying to stop the blood. Normally I take about 15 minutes for a three - four pass shave.

I did my first 4 pass shave last night. It took me about 25 minutes. So I would say the 3 minute a pass thing is about right.

I think the biggest thing is to just slow down get it to
where your not cutting your self. When that happens
you know you are using the right amount of time.

I don't think you should be accepting of getting cuts and weepers on every shave, that's a sign something is wrong with your products or technique.

    tv shaver

I shave in the morning sitting downstairs in my man cave watching tv with all my shave stuff laid out on a little table in front of me. Take my time, enjoy the tv, don't use a mirror, and never cut myself. stop fooling around with those merkur weapons and get yourself a nice superspeed and stop risking your life, good luck bc

This is pretty close to my experience.
Time varies a bit and sometimes, depending on the setup and my prep, I may need more touch-up passes.
Still, it's nowhere near the half hour process it is for some and even at this pace I rarely damage my skin.

Usually 20-30 minutes including shower, shave (2 passes and quick touch up), cleanup, brush the fangs, form the stash, yeah, all in about 20-30 minutes. Cuts, nicks and weepers were once fairly commnon but now I probably have a tough shave every 2-3 months (small nicks if any, weepers mostly, and mild irritation.)

From building lather to cleaned up and post shave skin care is about 15 minutes (3 passes).
I very rarely get a nick.

Whole shave under 10 minutes. One pass only, DFS. Head shave also one pass with DFS at under 15 minutes. No cuts or knicks.

I have some shaves that last about one hour, I guess it depends on my skin mood.. somedays it looks impossible to feel good while shaving, because my skin is too dry

Usually I don't have nicks or cuts.. unless I use the straight razor... sometimes it bites me

I made a vid of a shave.. 3 passes, DGS.. it was quite fast.. no burns, nicks or cuts.
    hope you like it:

today I tried the feathers blade and I got 3 nicks.
I must confess I got surprised about it.
in other hand I manage to have a BBS in 3 passes! I only could achieve that with a straight!

the cuts I made with a DE razor weren't more severe than a superficial cat's scratch.

(the straigth gave me a big bite on the chin... my fault: bad lather, blade in a condition less good than excellent)

    happy shavings for all

I get a tiny nick or two every month. It's usually been when I'm trying razors that are especially aggressive (New Deluxe, crazy open comb army slant, etc) or when I'm using new blades.
I think 3-4 minutes for a full shave is pretty fast. Slow down a little bit and pay attention to see if you're getting nicks in the same places. You can just slow down at those spots then

I very rarely cut myself on the face but I also shave my head and I have a scar on the back of my head that can be problematic.

I got back into DE shaving in Sept after using plastic garbage for about 30 years. The technique came back quickly and I've yet to have a nick or cut. I use a Fatboy, a single ring, new standard, and Merkur slant.
That said, I used to have small nicks with almost every shave with the twin blade stuff. Takes about 7 to 10 minutes to shave.
Nicks, etc. may well have to do with the angles of your face. It can be tough manueuvering a fixed, sharp, metal object around angles on the face.

I rarely get a cut or nick these days, I might get a slight rash if I wait a day or two too long to shave (weekends ;) )...

    Time

For over 20 years I used a DE, canned shave cream, and did only a single pass in the morning in 3-5 minutes total. I considered this was the fastest shave in the west. Speed mattered more than quality.

Now that I am older, and playing more for quality than speed, I need a good 10 minutes for a 2-pass job, and another 5 for the tricky ATG pass (or I will be using bandaids for aftershave). If I do not have the time to do ATG right, I don't rush it. I may only do ATG 2-3 times a week.
