Irresistable. That's the one that stood out to me. If only we'd met in an earlier time when life was simpler. (sigh)
Plan for D.E.cember! Razors (from left): Sterling Closed Comb DeFitch Closed Comb 1953 Gillette Ball-End Tech Phoenix DOC Weishi 9306 (the mighty might MTO, also sold as VDH) 1959 Gillette Fat Boy Blades (from top): Gillette Silver Blue Iridium Super Feather Hi-Stainless Triton R3 Soaps: Proraso Tutte Le Barbe Proraso Barbe Dure Proraso Pelli Sensbili TSD ISZ Shave Stick All shaves will be with a Plisson, cold water, face lathered, alum Finished. My AS this month will be Pinaud Lilac Vegetal over TSD ISZ, with a couple of variances thrown in along the way. My goal is to spend five days with each razor, maybe try a couple of blades in each razor, to determine which DE suits my techniques the best. After a year basically of strict 30 Day rules, a focus on DE seemed a perfect way to close out the year.
I feel anything but young these days. It was kind of bad to have a birthday on the 24th as a kid, so I celebrated it in June where I could have a party with friends.
wait ten more years.... I feel your pain brother! Having mine on the 29th, I briefly lobbied to change it to springtime or autumn. We all received no end of platitudes like - "I spent a little more on this because its a Christmas AND a birthday present!" Sheesh And having a BD right smack in the middle period between Christmas and New Year was like the eye of the hurricane. All the excitement happens at the front end and tail end, with you in the middle to pick up the pieces! Ah but there is a bright side at this stage - no public reminders of how old the geezer is!
Poor kid, people are recovering from the Christmas madness and gearing up for New Year's Eve - who wants to do anything on the 29th! (Edit) - Or the 28th!! My father sure appreciated the full-year tax write off though!
I have a friend whose last name is Christmas and she was born on . . . yep the 26th. . Her parents were also kind enough not to name her Mary.
What is wrong with you? A scratch is required to get the irritant below the skin so you can really experience the full menthol sensation.
Definitely one lesson I plan to remember! I only have the executive so it will be only one adjustable for me. Some day I will pick up a slim to try the different handle. I don't plan to be in a hurry. I plan to progress with both on four then moving ATG up to five for a couple shaves then both on five etc. Moving the ATG pass higher first. I was not sure which way made more sense. The thought that moving the WTG/XTG up higher because it could tolerate more aggression without irritation made sense. But Chris's thoughts back in August when you started with the adjustable that moving ATG up higher to reduce the desire to use pressure to compensate also makes sense. Maybe I will try the various combinations. Start with both at four and then move ATG higher (4,5) then reverse and do WTG/XTG pass higher (5,4) at each level to see what works as I move up. Hmmmm. Decisions.
Exactly! I trust @Bama Samurai 's thought and guidance regarding the prospect of using different settings for different passes. I'm only saying that when I do another focus on one of them, I will experiment using the opposite approach - High setting for WTG, low setting for ATG. In fact I may just do that for half the shaves and then reverse it for the other half of the focus. In the meantime, I will grab some popcorn and watch you slide right through your trial! and certainly learn something from it! RT
My wife would be very unhappy if my gear was all spread out. I keep a brush and my 2 razor stand on the counter. Everything else is out of sight. I have a small drawer for my razors and blades and keep some soaps in the cabinet under the sink. I have more soap samples in a plastic bag in my office. My wife hates clutter, but my office already suffers from it. The goal is to not allow it to spread.
