Did you hear about the Empire Stormtroopers and the red shirt Enterprise crewman? The stormtroopers fired all of their blasters and missed. The red shirt died instantl.

I've been away for two days and it is a lot of fun catching up on the 160 or so posts that I missed. Congratulations @NCoxSTL on a year of posts I have enjoyed reading most of them
My wife and I drove across the mountain to Nevada Saturday morning to pack up my Mother and Step-Father to move them back back to California. Sunday I drove one of two large U-haul trucks back and got stopped for chain-controls because of a snow storm. After purchasing two sets of truck snow chains at highway robbery prices, we made it over the pass back into California. It was a long day and I didn't bother to shave on either day. Today I had a lot of stubble to remove so I cranked the birth-year Fatboy up to eight and mowed it down. I got a nice two pass BBS with almost no cleanup. I was actually CCS after one pass. I do like the Fatboy on eight.

I am enjoying my time with the Flare Tip SS. Another great 3 pass near BBS shave this morning. Only 3 or 4 more shaves and the B&M Seville will be finished. No need for concern as I am way overloaded on shaving soap. Finished off with a splash of Myrsol F/Extra. I hope everyone has a great Tuesday.

The cartel approves of today’s shave. That’s a good thing, because it was a little rough. First up, Sterling Glacial soap. Got a thin but long lasting lather. I have no idea if it had cushion, because my face was so cold I couldn’t feel the blade cutting. This actually made it hard to adjust the angle by feel, like I usually do. Next up, the razor. A fine example of Soviet Engineering during the cold war era. I sent this one and Neal’s razor to Kevin @HolyRollah for honing, because I wanted Neal to experience a well-honed blade, and my honing is kind of hit and miss. So I know this blade was honed properly, but Kevin compared the temper of the steel to aluminum while he was honing it. I did my first pass, WTG, N/S. My first thought as this thing ripped its way down my face was, “A little tuggy, he did say that.” My second thought was, “Wow, if this is the good one, Neal @NCoxSTL is in for a treat.” Completed my N/S pass with no blood. Re-lathered my now numb face and went for XTG. Scything stroke worked ok on my jaw, but the blade was struggling with the thick whiskers on my jaw. Tugging was turning into ripping. Finished the pass, still no blood. Re-lathered, and started my ATG, S/N pass. After doing the left side of my neck, the razor was just unpleasant to use. Keep in mind my face was pretty numb from the Sterling, but I could feel this. Paused. Thought about it. Pulled out one of my 3 inch strops. Did 20 laps linen, and 30 laps leather. Finished my neck and cheeks, attempted ATG on my chin. Razor didn’t have enough of an edge left to do it. Considered breaking out the red tip with a Russian blade to finish up, but I wanted the full experience. Besides, this way I will get to shave again tomorrow. Carefully splashed Osage rub just on my face and neck. Washed my hands.

Ended up with a CCS/ SAS. No blood, and no menthol except where I meant to put it. Closeness a C-, now that the menthol is wearing off, I would call the Irritation a D-, to be fair though, part of that might be my face telling me to knock it off with the menthol. Because this shave was so bad, I will be shaving tomorrow. I plan on not using menthol soap, and hitting the pasted strop as needed. If that doesn’t work, I will bring a hone into the bathroom.

Nice shave. Mike's is a great soap, this Hungarian Lavender smells amazing. Slick and very protective. The Flare Tip continues shine bright, I can't believe how easy it is to get a great shave with this beautiful piece of Americana. GSB don't impress me. Semogue 610 is pretty good. :sad029:

Today's shave was an excellent combination of great razor, sharp blade, and a well scented, super performing soap. A two pass + clean up = Closeness A and Irritation A-. Operator error. I set the head down too hard on my Adam's Apple resulting in a small nick. My brush had no trouble whipping up a hearty, great smelling lather. Kathleen @Salty Belle has another winner with Barbershop Hop. The heavenly scented Route 66 Soaps are high performing, with excellent lubrication and skin care. The Metilsol located the nick for me. The shea butter cool and soothing. Finally a good spritz with one of my favorite Stirling Aftershaves. Hope you're all enjoying your Tuesday.

    Gillette New LC
    Rapira Super Stainless (2)
    Vulfix Super Badger (660)
    Stirling Margaritas in the Arctic
    Georgetown G12 Scuttle
    Pinaud Clubman Original

Still with the Stirling MITA and the New LC loaded with the Rapira Super Stainless. Same procedure as yesterday, except that I only loaded the brush for 30 seconds before going to the scuttle. I used a little more water in building the lather today and was rewarded with a more creamy result.

2 full passes: Pass 1 XTG. Very good reduction. Pass 2: ATG. Did small amount of touch up using the lather on my face. Then a cool water rinse and some additional touch up in my trouble spots and caught the baby. The Pinaud Clubman stung, but settled down quickly. The brush still had enough lather for another two or three passes.

A nice comfortable BBS from the Stirling MITA and the Rapira Super Stainless in the New LC. The Stirling MITA lathered better today because I wasn't shy about adding water. I did feel some roughness on my neck during final touch up. I grabbed some of the soap from the side of the container. It went on thick, but didn't seem to protect as much as the rest of the lather did. Tomorrow I will move onto another soap.

    Have a great Tuesday!
