    NCoxSTL AAACK!

Our friendly gatekeeper and moderator @RyX has officially closed November so here are the stats for those who keep track. We hit page 415 and finished with a total of 8291 posts. Pretty impressive. While not a record overall it is very definitely a record for November!! Thanks to everyone who made it happen.

Just a word from the history books - December has, since 2017, been the busiest month of the year here at the 30DC. Our current record for the year remains September with 9425 posts. If December is busier - well, let's just say hang on tight. It's gonna be a fun ride!!!

We're already off to a great start and I'm looking forward to a great month to finish off the year!! Again - thanks to everyone for making this place great!

Please do not look to me as an authority on the 'laws of chemistry', we have a professional chemistry educator with a Double Jedi degree in wetshaving and a hobby in T-bone steak rewards in our midst.

Just for the record though, who was it that was storing Glacial level shave soaps in the refrigerator again?

    Occam’s SS Safety Razor
    Gillette 7 O’clock Yellow
Elite Desert Ironwood with Envy White 2 Band
    B&M Bay Rum
    Captain’s Choice Bay Rum

The Elite "Tres Amigos" brush is a joy to use face lathering. Mark, Doug and I worked with Elite razor to make a matching set of brushes for the three of us. The handle fits the hand perfectly and the Envy 2 band knot has great scrub with a touch of scritch. I decided to revisit the Occam's with the wild plate using a different blade. Three passes and touch ups ended in a drama free BBS shave. The Gillette was much smoother than the Feather. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Beautiful, Clint!
I've had two excellent shaves from the Occam's. I'm glad to have it in the rotation. Thanks for the enabling!

Happy holidays gentlemen. Been a while since I've posted. I grew a beard and haven't been shaving. But I'm really missing it. As much as I like the beard, I miss the shaving hobby. However, just as I enjoyed getting into shave soaps, ive found there's a huge market of beard oils, balms and butters. Hope you are all doing well.

Just in case you all think that because I found some 'other' blades in November that work great. I do plan on using some of them at some point. I received the last shipment of 200 Feathers for the year just yesterday. Unless they go on sale or....
I get some extra cash to spend on them, one never knows.

Now at 660 blades, I will be good for almost 2 years, almost.

For the ones that just tuned in.

When I started this venture into wet shaving, Feathers were scary sharp, very scary sharp. So much so I couldn't use them. As my technique improved, so did my quest for a close, smooth shave.
Now the blades I learned on are ho hum at best, sorta bla.
If you do a rule or two and get your technique down well. A rule works, it just does!
    What happens???
I now just grab one of my 100+ razors, and go to work. Hardly ever cut, nick or burn myself. I prefer sharp blades, I never ever use a blade twice.

    A rule works!
    A focus fine tunes it!

Now back t your regularly scheduled posts.....

Early in wetshaving I used witch hazel every shave. Now my mainstay are the Stirling splashes that have alcohol, witch hazel, aloe, glycerin.

I really liked their menthol lemon chill witch hazel and tried a sample of the wintergreen since it was the only Glacial level witch hazel I've ever seen.

Of course with their 'Frost Drops' the polar caps are at the menthol heads disposal.

Very hot tap water will dissolve the menthol crystals. Put the solution in a recycled aftershave bottle. Shake before use and add to soaps etc.
