Glad you’re enjoying the new razor! I really like mine as well. That’s one razor that’s only leaving my den when I do, presupposing I survive this plague!

I’m a regular user of Mitchell’s Wool Fat, just a great tallow/lanolin based shave soap. We’ve had some of the guys on the crew struggling with lathering it, but once over that hump it’s just an awesome soap! :)

    Razor: Gillette New LC/CG Hammered
    Blade: Wizamet (?)
    Brush: Graydog Quilt
    Soap: I Coloniali
    AS 1: Humphrey's Alcoholado Maravilla 70
    AS 2: Terre D'Hermes
    Fragrance: Amouage Sunshine Man
Morning Perk: Guatemalan Bella Carmona Antigua

I'm a shave with whatever suits my fancy kinda guy lately so new to the den "I Coloniali" 1st use. Can't find an original terracotta pot for it so dropped it in a spare vintage wood coffer. Lathers EXTREMELY easy and is as others described, an intoxicating scent. Felt like a touch of a cooling effect in it too. Dave Likey !! Yielded a creamy and slick lather. Very happy I could try this veteran soap that's discontinued and add it to the den. Have a great day TSD !!

SOTD FRIDAY MORNING, DECEMBER 11, 2020

Welcome to Fatboy Wool Fat Friday! I was up early this morning and decided to pull my long neglected Fatboy out for this morning’s noggin shave. And as Monty Python was known to say as the opener to a sketch, “and now for something completely different!”. Although I had my first straight shave more than 5 yrs ago, there’s been quite a gap between that first shave and my straight shaves this year. So in addition to the Covid plague, 2020 has seen my return to straight shaving which for the most part has been with traditional folding western straight razors. For this morning’s mug shave I selected the Kai Captain Kamisori Clone and loaded a Feather Super.

My regular shave prep consists of a cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil. My soaking Viking Silvertip Badger whipped up the two kinds of MWF lathers I enjoy after exiting the shower. The shave that followed was excellent. After my punishment by the Shave Gods yesterday morning, I took particular care not to aggravate the site of my punishment and completed a velveteen close three pass (WTG, ATG, XTG) mug shave. The dome shave was a surprise! Usually my Fatboy delivers a ‘meh’ shave, but for whatever reason, opened up to 9, it sheared through the noggin whiskers with aplomb in two (ATG, ATG) passes, leaving me cool, clean, refreshed and velveteen smooth!

RAZOR: Kai Captain Kamisori Clone (Mug), Gillette Fatboy (Dome)
    BLADE: Kai DE
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with Argan Oil
    BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
    SOAP: Mitchell’s Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Humphreys Lilac WH and Osage Rub.

Happy Friday gentlemen. Another week closer to my induction into the MOLC. The District has informed us that we will be going full virtual for the week after Nee Years. Fun times, I rather be at school. Student will not be that productive as we learned last Spring.
Another fine shave this morning. Love the Stirling Spice/B & M combination. The Merkur did a wonderful three pass that has left me feeling smooth and clean. Smell good in the neighborhood.
    Have a great day gentlemen.

That’s a gorgeous brush and an epic accompanying kit, Dave. As I said elsewhere, it’s great to have you here. Your wet shaving know how and experience will be a real boon to some of our newer wet shavers here. Welcome aboard! :happy088:

Thanks Jason! If I do order the Yuri Kravchenko, then I would say late spring early summer. I may still order a Sprecher, instead. It all depends on my finances. I still have to concentrate on other concerns.

Andrew I use Bay Rum year round. Considering where it’s made, Bay Rum is certainly for warm weather.
