Terrific Tabac shave, Blair! I only used my Tabac shave stick once and I was quite astonished by the great lather it made. I even liked the scent. It does not smell like an old woman's purse. Lol! Even if it did, I still liked the smell.

As for "dry soap", Each first pass I do is weaker than the second, or sometimes third, with the administering of water from the brush to the soap. By the time of the second pass the extreme wetness goes away. On your other question, a lot DID go into my palms, but a lot went into the sink too, which confirmed that I had overdone it.

Another vote for the cool Avon decanter Tommy! The QShave Futur clone....is the handle a matte surface? I didn't hang on to the Merkur Futur early on as I was trying DE's....the polished handle waaayyy to slick for my beginning DE shaves (couldn't keep anything dry).

I am sorry Paul, but your statement that your first pass of soap is weaker than your second or third pass. Shouldn't it be the reverse?

What I meant is....the first pass brings out wetter soap-sometimes to me it borders on invisible. Where I agree is that those who do 3, 4 passes give me a frown, as I always say "Didn't you kill off enough already?".

That is a pretty cool setup Dave. Hate it when I get sniped by a couple $. Some items...meh...but that would have been a cool score!

Well, that's your problem Paul. I recommend that your brush should have enough soap for 3 passes and that your first pass should have a higher soap conc than your subsequent passes. You don't want your first lather to be weak by having too much water. I generally just wet my tips and load the soap so that it is pasty, but is ample for 3 passes. Continue to wet just the tips and paint your face. Swirl the brush on your face and then add tiny bits of water and keep doing this until you build up enough lather that suits you. If done correctly, then you will have enough soap for 3 passes, but there will be less soap than your first lather. My question is why did you keep shaving during your first pass when your soap was disappearing because it was too wet. At that point, I would have added more soap until I got a nice, creamy, stable lather. I and other members have suggested to you that it is ok to relather during a pass when there wasn't enough lather.

I still get ticked at being sniped on Ebay that prevented me from getting a Filly 14 Novodor in excellent condition at a very good price. Now the asking prices of these razors are ridiculously overpriced by hundreds of dollars.
