That's a great example, Myles. Thank you.

It pays to do your homework and shop around, as you have found, even for luxury or high-end products. I've found the same thing on wristwatches. 20% to 25% discounts (and sometimes more) can be obtained if you're patient. Since demand for luxury products varies quite a bit, timing is everything. I purchased a watch in 2010 (during a huge downturn in the economy) at a great price because I knew what I wanted, I was ready to buy, and relatively few others were buying. :)

Nice, Gary! Ending the year with a bang!
I've been watching the Yates website. Hoping to order an H baseplate before the year ends and NB2021 starts.

Scents are powerful and somewhat mysterious, in my opinion. Opinions vary widely, and it's one of the most common points of our discussion here. Sometimes for entertainment, I will read fragrance reviews just to see the widely varying opinions. For every scent someone loves, another will hate it.

I worked in an analytical lab for a few years. Our chemists could measure trace impurities except for odor-causing impurities. We found, time and again, that a person's sense of smell was far superior to state-of-the-art analytical methods. That should tell you something about the power of scents.

I would say that with aroma chemicals, allergies may occur.

Product labeling requirements are complex. After dealing with labeling issues professionally for years, I still have questions. Technically, even "natural" Oud is a chemical. All scented products are of chemical origin. (Air and water are chemicals. :) ) I understand your point and desire for truthful labeling, but synthetic scents are not necessarily better or worse. They are likely different to some extent, though.

I'm betting there's variability in Oud scent as well. In fact, everything has some level of inherent variability.

    I did. :)

If all products were judged by consumers in blind studies (without the aid of professional marketers helping to educate us and influence our buying decisions), I'm guessing our definitions of "best" wouldn't be the same.
