Whilst discussing our return to safety razors w/ an old bandmate chum, I mentioned my dad used to chuck the spent blades thru a slot in the medicine cabinet/mirror, located by the sink in the bathroom. He was thrilled to learn what those slots were for .....as he has moved into his grandparents home He now continues this family tradition after a (50+ year ?) moratorium. The blades fall into the wall between studs and dry-wall .... imagine the history. I would love to be able to do the same at our old family home, should that cabinet still exist. It would almost be worth showing up and making that request to the new tenants !
I was introduced to the practice the first time I remodeled a bathroom and had a wall cavity filled with razor blades to deal with.
@IAmTheJody installed an aftermarket used blade slot in his place. Perhaps he will show it off in this thread.
This is the one I installed after removing my 50-year-old medicine cabinet that had a slot in the back of it... Got it at Maggard Razors here: https://maggardrazors.com/products/maggard-razors-blade-bank-used-blades-lifetime-wall-slot
