Yeah. Just witch hazel, pure aloe vera gel, glycerin, vitamin e oil, tea tree oil, and a styptic pencil. Very little alcohol, but the styptic pencil dissolves perfectly and adds that alum sting that you look for in an alum block. The others are just goodies :).

The price of vodka versus the alcohol I use it just massive. I never thought of it since, but I'll remember it for a scented version :)

I thought vodka was cheap(ish) in denmark

Well, yes, compared to Sweden perhaps. But still very much more expensive than just pure alcohol. I think we pay around 80DKK for a bottle. About the half of that if I get it at the German bordershops. But I haven't bought a bottle in years. I get heavy hangovers if I drink anything else but beer, so I tend to stay away from that :)

Man, I am so glad you posted this! I've used it for a few weeks and really like it. I added a few drops of fragrant oils, so there is no alcohol smell at all. I just give it a good shake before using.

Note: I didn't measure, but added coconut to sandalwood for a fragrance that everyone on my family likes. I doubt lightning will strike there again!

@HolyRollah - Kevin, I may have to search TSD extra hard for your recipes. This morning I tried >this< recipe of yours. Wow! I like it. I may make >this other one< this weekend.

How many different working recipes do you have in rotation?

    Thanks for sharing!

    I have altered my recipe a bit - here's the 3. version.

    - 25ml 2-propanol pure alcohol >99%
    - 25ml distilled pure witch hazel
    - 25ml distilled/demineralised/deionised water
    - 2,5ml / 0,5 tsp pure glycerin
    - 2,5ml / 0,5 tsp pure Aloe Vera gel
    - 2.5ml / 0.5 tsp vitamin E
    - Menthol flakes, just the tip of a knife. Very little.

Slightly cooling sensation, great skincare and virtually no scent at all - perfect!

    Now, I just do

-Enough 86/14 witch hazel to fill up the container I'm using, either 4oz or 8oz.
-10 or so drops of Tea Tree Oil

So, I've been waiting for our locally owned independent health foods/organic foods supermarket to get in 4 oz Boston Amber dropper bottles so I could do this.

    -1 part Rose Water
    -1 part 86/14 Witch Hazel
-10 or so drops of TTO.

What's 86/14 witch hazel? Is Rose water good for the skin?

The 86/14 Witch Hazel is that cheap stuff you get from Walmart for $1.50, and other drug stores that has 14% alcohol. Yeah. There's more info about rose water on women's makeup websites than shaving websites. Apparently it's good for inflammation and irritation just like witch hazel is. Thayer's has a version with Rose Water in it.

1.50$ hahahaha. If I wanted to buy a bottle of WH I would have to pay 17$

if you are mixing a 1 to 1 ratio or any for that matte with pure isopropyl (2-propanol) alcohol please be very careful. Do not let anyone have a open flame nearby. It is not a fire hazard it is an Explosion hazard.

Yeah it's crazy expensive and quite hard to get here as well.

SWMBO cannot say I'm not on fire and shaking the bedroom then... It's a fair warning though. It's hazardous stuff for a reason. None of us smokes and candlelights are a winter-thing, far away from the bathroom.

Today I added 2,5ml castor oil to the splash - will try it today and see how it feels. I have updated my link in my signature.
