I buy it direct from France, with exchange rates it is cheaper than from the USA supplier. (About 15 bucks cheaper last time I purchased it in the spring) http://www.martin-de-candre.com Looks like they are updating the site and the English portion is not up. Not hard to figure out on French side even if you don't speak it...
These comments are interesting as I get the 'drying' aspect some experience and the often polarizing scents of MdC (love it or hate it), but the one constant from the majority of users is both the ease of making and efficacy of the lather. I've found it to be probably the easiest puck I've encountered to yield extremely thick & slick lather by the brush load. My first choice for straight razor shaving as it provides excellent glide and lubrication. As always...YMMV!
I find it to be a good or maybe very good performer. So, it's a heck of a soap, just not excellent. Mind you, my top 5 list is pretty stacked when it comes to performance for soaps, in order to make it in MdC would have to knock off the likes of Valobra, QCS, Barrister and Mann, Speick, Vitos, Czech and Speake, or maybe Haslinger...
Just can't seem to get beyond the price/oz. of MdC. So many other great triple milled soaps out there...for less cost.
I agree...but so do most triple milled soaps. As much as I complain I am just trying to talk myself out of buying some. I will probably order some next week.,
As my signature line says, "I can resist anything except temptation". (Thanks Oscar). I will let you know when the MdC arrives...
Well...it arrived (I purchased the unscented version) and have been using it lately with great results. Easy to lather, good lubrication. Nice soap.
