I had a bottle. Essentially no skin care at all. I added glycerin, and made it "OK", but that was about all. The scent was almost pure clove, and lasted about 15 minutes. I know that is what many are looking for in a scent, so they can use a cologne afterwards, but it just didn't do it for me. I think I finally poured it out to use the bottle for something else. My girls always commented on the "pumpkin pie" aftershave when I used it though...
Today I compared these two scent class cousins. Both made in the U.S., both cheap. Ends up I prefer the Arctic Blue, which I think is made by those folks out west that make lots of these budget items for Dollar General, Family Dollar, etc (and could make this stuff for Barbasol for all I know). It's very similar to but nicer than the Barbasol which, even though it has a bit more going on, ends up meh for me. At $1 a bottle (along with the Spice version, itself a nice one), I need to go stock up.
I too like Alpa 378 - it smells like nothing else I have and for some reason reminds me of my uncles when I was a kid - summer family picnics captured on black and white film, the men all WWII vets playing horseshoes and smoking cigarettes and wearing green sunglasses - it's a good aftershave to wear if I'm spending a day perusing antique shops. Alpa also has one called Windsor that's nice. Couple of other ones I use from time to time that aren't as common are: Brut Dominant AS Lotion Brut Attitude AS Lotion Sante Homme AS Murray & Lanman Kananga Water cologne

I use BOOBS which is a homemade blend of one third each Benjamins bay rum, vintage Old spice and Ogallala Bay rum with lime and peppercorns and with a Splash of West Indian rum. It's lovely.
I use WM Neumann aftershaves, but they are expensive so I only use them once in awhile vs. Captain's.
Sadly, I found it at Shaveabuck, along with a lot of other cool things. The site is still offline, so I'm expecting the worst.
I like the Family Dollar brand that's a copy of Brut aftershave. I can't tell the difference between the Family Dollar and Brut except for the price.
