Wow congrats! I'm in! Best advice I ever got was technique is everything, watch your angle and pressure. Then again, there are some really crappy blades out there! :duel:

    CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm In!

Don't chase the BBS! Try for DFS if you end up with a BBS, then you have learned how to achieve the best shave possible without irritation.

    Great PIF! I'm in.

After 30 years of DE shaving, the best advice I can give to someone starting is to do your homework and be methodical. Be careful with prep and don't change anything for a month or few. Pick a good blade - e.g., Astra SP and don't try to be fancy - you don't need a BBS from day one and trying to be perfect will only get you cut and sore. Take your time (shave at night), actively pay attention to what you're doing (no going through the motions), get your technique down and then, only then.... can you start trying new blades and handle weights and head designs, etc... What to start with? Whatever you want - as long as people here have used it successfully, it's fine. Start with Williams Mug and a Gillette old? Why not? Millions did and they didn't have youtube for how-to videos (OR us! here) to help out. You will find your experiences at day 3 of shaving are vastly different than month 3 - or even year 3. Remember, when you start wetshaving, you're that pimpy-faced 15 year old you were once before.

This is just a personalization of the master saying: the more you know the basics, the more advanced you are. It works for everything skill-based in life.

Since I've become an avid SE user, one of the most important things is getting the angle right, and the easiest way to learn that is to watch Mr. Guy's video here:
