Okay, it's been just over a week since I received the Weishi 9603 gunmetal razor and started shaving with it. This was such a generous gift! I feel like it deserves an update. So, in case you didn't see my newbie thread, I used an electric razor for many years and switched to cartridge razors a couple of years ago. While it was better than using an electric, the cartridge razors still gave me lots of razor burn - especially under my chin and on my neck. The razor burn and ingrown hairs on my neck were so bad, I could only shave my neck every other day, and I didn't shave on the weekends to give my face a chance recover.

So, given my history with shaving, I was excited to try something new! Out of the 5 assorted blades that were sent with the razor, I started with the Voskhod. The results were better than using a cartridge razor. The first couple of shaves were a little tricky. I had to get used to DE shaving and actually concentrating on holding the razor at the right angle. But by about the third shave or so, I really got the hang of it! I figured out a routine that works well for me. I have been shaving my neck every day, AND shaving on the weekends. The red bumps from ingrown hairs are gone, along with the razor burn! I used the Voskhod for the entire first week and just switched to an Astra blade tonight (i'm a night shaver). HOLY CRAP!!! BEST SHAVE EVER!!! I had zero razor burn! No irritation whatsoever. The first pass with the new blade gave me tingles inside, it was so slick! After using the Voskhod for a week, I was pretty sure I wanted to move up to something a little more aggressive (My beard is pretty thick and it's hard to get all of it in just two passes with the Voskhod). My Brother-in-law suggested trying the Astra blade. I am sold!!

Thank you so much for this PIF. It's been a wonderful opportunity for me to try something new. And the results have been better than I expected!!

 

This is GREAT news @Ammo!!! I'm glad that the reviews in the Weishi with the Astra blade were correct!!!! I'm glad all your ingrown hairs and razor burn are gone!! Woohooooo!!!!! I'm sure everyone will be excited to hear your update! You should copy and pat it onto your newbie post as well!

@Ammo I'm so glad it worked out well for you. This is precisely the reason I put up the PIF in the first place! The Astras are also one of my favorites since I too have a rather coarse beard and need a sharper blade to slice through it without any tugging.
