Missed that. You are correct. Would’ve loved to have the SS version just to see the difference.

 

This is the SS Masters, it is 6/8 and shoulderless.

 

Looks exactly the same. Just curious if the SS makes a difference.

 

I checked the site on the one on SRD has a stabilizer.

 

I also have a Bismarck, during the shave I can't tell the difference. I 'think' the stainless blade holds an edge longer but it could just be mind tricks.

 

The old one (1176815) will say 'Rostfrei' and/or 'stainless' laser engraved somewhere upon the front or rear tang area, and also note that it has no shoulder (the little secondary ridge running from just above cutting edge towards the spine)



The new one with carbon steel has a shoulder, no writing saying 'stainless', never offered in grenadille

 

Yep. I see all that now. Just had’t imagined there was a new and old, one not in SS, so I wasn’t really looking closely. Having said that, it’s a great razor at a great price, and I’m still happy to have it in the stable.

 

Is the old one still in production?

 

No, Keith, this old 6/8 stainless blank has not been in production from Dovo 4yrs now, and is not being used by any other competitors currently in Solingen. A shame, it was a tremendous blank.
