Ebay, Now Taxing all things.

    Shh. don't give THEM ideas.
    Merchants act as collection agents for the tax consumers (government). Just try and get around it, see what happens. There have been proposals to abolish our IRS and all federal income taxes including the alternative minimum tax, corporate income taxes, and capital gains taxes, payroll taxes including Social Security and Medicare taxes, gift taxes, and estate taxes and replace it with a 23% "consumption" tax when new items are sold. It wouldn't tax used stuff. The scary part is the rate would automatically adjust annually based on federal receipts in the previous fiscal year. I'm concerned it would "adjust" based on Federal Spending. Everyone loves some other guys deep pockets.
