Yes! But you haven't missed the boat. Should start shipping in about 3 weeks or so. Not too late to join the fun.
I know you weren't asking me and I always steal Darkbulb's questions, but here is another review which addresses that specific question. Sorry for linking to another forum, but it seems relevant. http://shavenook.com/showthread.php?tid=36828&highlight=Blackbird
Thanks, Mark! I'm sure DB will give you his opinion, too. Not right now. I wanted to create a razor that was aesthetically and mechanically a unit which is why the handle inserts into the socketed base plate. While a different handle can be used with the head, I'd rather sell them together to maintain the cohesive design I strove for, kind of like a three piece Pils. I'm not staunchly opposed to separating though and might revisit it in the future.
Got the new top cap. I was told this is a rough finish just to check how the part works. Having said that, the finish is pretty damn good and better than the old finish by far. I took a quick cell phone shot. I'll have time to take better ones when my in-laws leave. New on left.
Is it me or does it seem like there is more blade exposure on the new head? Or maybe it's the way the picture was taken?
It does look that way, but fret not! I think terrible photography and different blades caused that effect. They have the same exposure. They are the same dimensions, held to the same tolerances, and shave the same in my tests. One just looks a lot better.
If you're a backer then you already saw these photos. Here is the new top cap. I'm told that the underside will be a bit cleaner, but I love the way it is already. I should be shipping in two weeks, maybe a bit less. Exciting times!
Thanks! Well, I don't intend on going anywhere so whenever you're ready I'll have a Blackbird with your name on it.
Unless they are sold out. So far this razor seems to slipped under the Badger & Blade radar. Once the 'shaving elite' realize this razor is on the market, all bets are off.
