Exclusive: A hands-on, first look at The Blackland razor

The last thing I need is another razor! ......sigh, I got my early bird in at about the halfway point. Funny thing @PLANofMAN they rejected your debit card when I tried to use it too.

 

That made me laugh harder than it should have.

 

To those who are in on this: I'd be interested in knowing what finish and handle length you're planning on getting. I prefer longer handles so will definitely be going with the 101mm, I'm leaning towards the black finish, mainly as a contrast to all my other razors.

 

I prefer a longer handle so I'll go for the 101mm.

I have avoided getting coated razors in the past (Although I did briefly own a Muhle Jet) because I was worried about the coating coming off.
I won't have to worry about this one so it's a black one for me.

 

If I remember correctly, @ShaneS will still allow for a mixed-finish razor that you can determined at time of shipping.
Meaning: For instance black head, silver baseplate and black handle like the zebras below:

That's correct! I chose not to advertise it in the campaign because it got a little messy and confusing, but you are welcome to choose any combination you'd like.

I am very excited for your new venture and excited to take part in this process! I usually hate a wait but, this wait feels great!

Btw - long handle and raw stainless all the way but, let's face it - next round black will be ordered as well!

 

I signed up about an hour ago and there are only 10 remaining $135 slots. looks like they will be fully funded in about a week at this rate.

 

Thanks so much! The wait is a bummer, but I'll keep you all updated as production goes on so you can get behind the scenes. Sure, it's not the same as shaving with the thing, but at least it's something .

Quick update: Only ten $135 early-ish birds are left. So if you're thinking about jumping in, now is the time. I don't expect them to last beyond tomorrow.

I believe it will still start at the end of the campaign so my manufacturers know exactly how many to produce. A big cost in manufacturing something like this is the time and manpower it takes to set up and prepare to machine the part. It's my understanding that doing all of the order in one go is the best way to minimize those setup costs and they already have me roughly slateI'll contact them to find out if starting early is something feasible.

It's also important to note that even though I say "go", production doesn't start right away. They aren't sitting around with tools in hand waiting for me. There are jobs in line that are in front of me and managing that timeline is important. And with my job size, I don't have enough might to push my way ahead in line.

Like I said though. It's always worth asking .
