Exactly what I always feared, which is why I never bought one.

Same. What hooked me on FL was back when I had a 1950s nylon bristle brush...had a nice, gently scrubby feel that was very pleasant. Boar and badger (the ones I've tried, anyway) can't duplicate that feel.

I thought I smelled funny after my shave...turns out it wasn't the aftershave now was it.

I vastly prefer face lathering soaps and croaps, but generally bowl-lather creams.

I started with using a bowl. Went on a trip back in January and face lathered because I forgot to pack a bowl and have been face lathering ever since.

I have exclusively face lathered for the last 30 days. Before that I would seldom face lather. At this point, I am unsure if I will ever go back to bowl lathering.

I use my scuttle daily. I fill it with water and dip my brush into it while face lathering because I don't want to keep my faucet running.

In the beginning I bowl lathered. Within the first couple of weeks, I started face lathering and have never went back.

Hey, @gorgo2 , why didn't you allow for an answer in your question that is halfway between always and never? I wasn't sure how to answer because I wouldn't say "almost never" and I wouldn't say "almost always" I would say "half the time" or "varies" or something similar.

Just for you, I'll edit the poll and add an option for "60% of the time, I face lather every time."

Then I will mark myself down for that. Thanks.

    Hmmm,
It would be interesting to know how many are those who face lather and also use cold water. I switched to cold water last month when I started doing a face lather on a regular basis. This was more instinctual than purposeful.

I started face lathering a few months ago, and haven't used a bowl since. I get a better, more consistent lather than with a bowl, and I can do so with more creams and soaps than before.

I do want to raise a question: how do you create a super-lather while face lathering?
