Failed my first exam at shave school.

Lots of good advice on here. Take your time, turn off the music and listen to your blade. Breathe as you're shaving (sometimes I forget when I'm concentrating on difficult spots or when my mind drifts), take it easy on the pressure. And I agree wholeheartedly on getting to know your grain. It made all the difference on my neck. Shaving in the wrong direction would leave me with bad razor burn even when I was doing all the above.
