I was once walking through a rather seedy section of downtown, and passed a group of colourful street citizens, sipping out of paper bags.... and overheard one announce to the rest... "Hey! The drugstore has a sale on Aqua Velva!!" :sick007 Ever since then, I've avoided it. Don't want to smell like a rubby. Besides, I think it smells like Mennen Speed Stick deodorant. :sick007
Just as a side note, AV makes me gag. I thought I was going to puke the last time I splashed some on. It wasn't always that way, but something happened and it literally turns my stomach.
ewww. Well hope it doesn't have that effect one some people. Scent is a very personal thing. I can order the most popular item here... and absolutely hate it. Might burn way too much, or not at all. I enjoy a little kick in the face in the morning
AV doesn't do anything for me either, but it's superior to Skin Bracer...WAAAAAY too much powder going on there (I think that's what it is).
:sihns011 Bob I'm leaving it up to you to keep track of all the poor misguided AV haters for me. ::ban
I enjoy the AV but I LOVE the Pinaud Clubman scent. I added some menthol to my Clubman and it is my go to splash. :freezing
I wish I could vote for more than one. I don't use the same aftershave all the time. Everyone should have at least a couple options.. I'd say Proraso, Old Spice, and Pinaud Clubman for my top 3. Some may say Proraso is expensive, but Drugstore.com has it on sale once in a while. I bought 4 bottles when they had it for, I beleive $8.43 for a bottle, with free shipping. It seems I always get compliments when using it. Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve is great too. It can be bought at Atlanta Barber supply for $5.25. They have all the other Clubman products also. The Clubman Shampoo is $3.50..
You have many listed there that I own, and love but only one that I will always have a bottle of, "Old Spice" will always have a spot on the shelf along with "Royall Bay Rhum" these two just speak old time shaving to me... Maybe because Pops always had them, but I will never be without those two...
You can vote for more than one . Or at least I set it up to that haha. I had it so you can select your favorites I know it is very personal. I hoped that people would post their top 2-3 aftershaves .
Sadly, yes. Which is why I always associate Aqua Velva with winos, who drink the stuff. High alcohol, low price. A favourite beverage with a certain subset of our society, unfortunately.
you should have added superior bay rum , I think alot of us have it and use it that the numbers would be surprising
Nothing takes me back to the DAY like Old Spice....If there could be only one....OS then, now and forever... Wish you could get it in Turkey.
I really like the smell of Clinique which I always use their post shave. I am not a part nor paid to advertise their product but it is really nice as it does not burn like when you use an alcohol solution on the area. I cannot speak much how this would compare to other products of the same line but this works for me. Might be different for you but this soothes even for the sensitive skin. I have tried other splashes in the market and had mixed experiences about them.
My favorite, TSD Splashes, didn't make the list. Nor did my second favorite, Provence Sante. Also, I'm clearly on the Anti-Velva list. It might work, but it stinks something terrible to my nose.
When I was growing up....My Dad used Old Spice, Floris no.89...I believe he had a Bay Rum and one or two other quality frags...One time one of my brothers used Aqua Velva in the bathroom and Dad said he didn't want to know which one of us used it...But if any of us did want to use it again, could we please go out to the stables to apply it...Out of respect for the rest of us who have to use that bathroom...:happy102
