I found the Feather too mild for me. I usually use a Merkur Progress so I can "dial it in".

After I recently started using it again, it seemed mild and inefficient. After a few shaves it started to be much better.

I’ve thought about buying an ASD2, but don’t want to spend $200 for a SS Tech clone. I have plenty of them already.

The Feather AS D2 isn't "a clone" it is "the clone". I just had to add some levity to your post. $154 for a stainless steel clone isn't all that bad, it's shave'n stuff. ;)

But I did just recently bought me a USA 'New' razor and it doesn't compare favorably with the England made in 'New'.

Wow! $154 is a bargain price. For years they were ~$185, now as far as I can tell they’re up to well over $200 everywhere in North America. There was a distributor of Japanese goods based in California who last Christmas had a super deep discount on the Feather. I hemmed and hawed until the sale was over. You snooze, you lose!

LC and I meant to say this razor does compare favorably with the 'made in England' razor. It was gold but the previous collector (gold miner) removed the gold plating. I've considered having the razor replated but it shaves great without the gold plating. So? I'm after the shave more than the collector's value. ;).

Lately my choice of razors have been those with Efficiency. 1920's Improved and even that abc SOB. Shaving with an abc is akin to shaving with the lid off a pork & beans can. :D [well at least the one I own]

I bought one earlier this year that was new, but without packaging or accessories, for $100. I wasn't even in the market for one, but when I saw it, I grabbed it.

I'm not sure if China and Intellectual property rights have crossed paths with Japan. I'm not a legal kind of guy but just asking? But I'm not saying it isn't legit. :D

It was from a US seller on eBay. I'm pretty sure it's the Real McCoy.
