When ever I've used a Feather it's with my old Tech. For whatever reason I loaded my Merkur HD with one, then forgot about it. This morning I'm NOT thinking and use the HD like it had a 3-shaved IP. I had some nicks and drips before it dawned on me why. I can't fault the Feather but the driver. Good finish but only after the damage and irritation was done. Not a lot of forgiveness for careless driving.
No way around it...Derbys are are class act... There are several blades out there I love, but whenever I think of the Derb's I smile and think of comfort...)
I have not tried a Feather yet though I have twenty of them waiting for me. I just got my fifth BBS shave from a medical grade Personna with no signs of the blade getting any worse. Am looking forward to trying the Feathers but they will have to go some to top the med grade Personnas.
No question for me. Feathers are my 'every day' blade with no fear or hesitation. Definitely the sharpest blade out there. However, that doesn't mean other blades aren't good as well. And I do like fairly aggressive razors.
So I dug a Feather out of one of my sample packs and tried it out. I've used this blade at least 4 times (I rotate several razors so I don't quite know how many times I've actually used it) and it is still cutting me. This is one sharp blade that is not as forgiving when used with bad technique.
