I have used both hands from the start. It's just easier for me that way.

My self-imposed 30 day focus while away from home is to finish a few products! It's been too long since I have seen the bottom of a shave tub, or an empty bottle. ;)
I guess I don't really qualify to post here, but I will definitely know the intricacies of these items:
    MWF
    Fat Boy
    CH2 Synthetic
    Floïd Blue

Happy Birthday TSD and thanks to @Bama Samurai (Chris) for shepherding us through another 30 day rule/focus thread! This will be my 8th consecutive focus thread, although I did a month long focus while lurking on the site beforehand. I spent the first 70 days of my DE shaving experience with a single razor: the Gillette Super Speed flair tip. That really paid off in lessons learned and skills developed.

My February Focus will be my Gillette Old Type razor. I was surprised to find that I've only shaved with this razor 19 times (even though I've had it 6 months) so it's appropriate that I should give it some time. I intend to shave with it all month. I will revisit the blades that seemed to work well in this razor (Rapira Super Stainless & Gillette Silver Blue) along with some new ones. I will change soaps and brushes as desired. I have a few samples that need to be used up.

I'm looking forward to another 30 day focus and some fabulous February fellowship!

    Wow!

Shaving, football...is there anything that the Exulted Grand Poobah Bama S doesn't know?
Yes Fordham was indeed the alma mater of the Lombardi who played on the offensive line known as the Seven Blocks of Granite.

(i'll let it go this time but i was tempted to add an asterisk to the answer provided by @Bama Samurai I'm curious to know if he would have gotten that right had there NOT been the Alabama connection. We all know how he rolls...with the Tide!)

and yes @NCoxSTL a harrumph is certainly in order!

Nice Focus Roger - and what a great library of Repeaters - I look forward to your analysis!

also, let me know when you receive your ABC. I received mine a few weeks ago from a December order and was looking for a good time to break it out. Looks like a side-by-side with you when you get yours could help. Did you get the hard soap or cream? Any other ABC users out there?

    Great shave with the 1924.
Maca root is delightful and extremely slick. I did 2 passes xtg and atg with touch ups. I'm calling a dfs. If I can replicate this shave consistently I will consider it mastered. I've realised its a razor that demands respect but also it needs confidence. My passes must be deliberate and smooth. It's hard to balance a respect for a razor and be confident at the same time I think. The kistna balm is fantastic I highly recommend it. For those who hate greasy balms it absorbed in about 5 mins and feels great. Very happy :happy088: image.jpg

Thanks Vince. In the past I was still trying all the different blades with the Repeaters, so this time it will be one blade for the entire focus.
I got the hard soap version of ABC.

I plan on my February focus being on my Mongoose. Unfortunately, my Goose got held up in San Francisco Customs and I won't get a chance to try it until around Thursday. So, I will start the month focus free and transition to the Mongoose when it arrives. I look forward to joining you guys for my eighth consecutive focus month.
    Have fun!

    Focus day 1
    Menthol Monday

    Prep: Warm shower
    Blade: Rapira platinum lux (1)
    Razor: Maggard MR1
Brush: Satin Tip 'The Purest' synthetic
    Lather: Proraso Green
Post: Witch hazel splash, TSD SubZero, Nivea sensitive balm
    WTG, touch-up

Efficient CCS this morning. I enjoyed the menthol kick from the Proraso and TSD SubZero. I've never done a menthol Monday before and I like it! It's get the work week off to an invigorating start.

First shave with the Maggard MR1 and it seems like a great, efficient, and mild shaver. The Rapira blade worked nicely as well.

Happy February to all! I hope your Monday is a good one.

    Shave Den Sunday

February Focus begins a day early with my Schick Type D - The first Schick Injector Razor circa 1935.

    Shave 1
    Hot Shower
    Razor: Schick Type D
    Blade: Schick (China) (1)
    Soap: TSD Unscented
    Brush: Rubberset 400-4
    TSD Witch Hazel
    TSD Aftershave Milk
    TSD Acqua Di Gio

    01-31-16.JPG

    3-day growth = 3-pass shave.

First shave with the D - a beautiful razor and a great shave.
First pass (WTG) seemed very efficient, so second pass went right to ATG and a very comfortable shave.

First impression - this razor was extremely easy to maneuver and settle in on the shave angle. Efficient, close and casual - casual because I immediately got the angle and it appeared to flow across the face with minimal to no pressure and even provided a good ATG on upper chin and corners of my mouth where I hardly ever do ATG.

I think I’m going to enjoy this month!

    Cheers!

With a DE I only used one hand. When I started with straights I tried using just one hand but it was impossible for some parts to get the right angle with the blade. So I switched to both hands for SR shaving and can't imagine going back.

While it took some time train my off hand I highly recommend using both hands for straight shaving.
