Focus day 12

Prep: Warm shower
Blade: Astra Superior Stainless (1)
Razor: Maggard MR1
Brush: Omega 10049 boar
Lather: VDH luxury scented
Post: Witch hazel splash, Nivea sensitive balm
WTG, XTG, touch-up

A decent shave this morning. Not great, or good, just decent. No irritation or nicks/weepers, but it took me two passes plus touch-up to get to CCS when I normally need just one pass with touch-up. I'm going to blame the blade! The Astra SS felt tuggy and not too smooth from the start. I have used Astra SPs before with great success but this blade was not up that standard. This is the first blade for me where the tugginess has been evident and it's not too pleasant.

The large Omega brush whipped up some amazing lather from the VDH soap. The last time I used VDH I had a terrible shave with lots of irritation and nicks, but today's performance is most likely related to the blade.

It was inevitable that after a long string a good shaves I would encounter a bump in the road. But that's life! I'll take solace in no irritation or nicks and weepers and move on to tomorrow.

No shave today. Still hurting from my rib pull that I repulled on Sunday. This is extremely tiring...

Today was shave #12 with the Persona Lab blade and I think it may have been the best shave yet!

Thanks, Mark! I'm taking steroids and antibiotics as precaution, all the test I've done have ruled out kidney stones, maybe it's a pull and an infection?

 

Is the E7 the one standing upright? Killer SOTD!

 

Your picture caught me off guard. When I first saw it I imagined you lathering up with one brush in each hand and then straight razor shaving with an open DE blade. And then I saw the Blackbird...it is stealthy...

 

Kerry, I hope you get some relief soon with the meds. Sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

Best shave yet! I'm on day five with a Kai blade and I did two passes for mostly BBS. I am a little surprised that this happened on the 5th day with a blade, but I'll take it. This is a very nice razor.
