Chris, my wife and I have had similar thoughts in our life. I am excited for you and praying it all works out!

Great picture of you and your dad, BTW. I can definitely see the resemblance.

Sweet shave. This RR boar is a lather monster! It whipped up a pile of MWF in no time. The Blackbird just gets it done with ease.

Nice setup Doug, how is the CC soap? I really like their aftershaves.

I like there soap very much. I find it easy to lather and slick. Captain's Choice Bay Rum Shaving Soap is scented with the same proprietary concentrate used in their Bay Rum aftershave. Luxurious and thick creamy lather makes each shave one to remember. The scent is these artisan shave soaps was designed the scent to be just "there" and never too prominent for an enjoyable shave each time.

A quick one pass for a SAS this morning. I am taking the kids bowling, so that is more than acceptable. I think this is my favorite razor of the ones I have. So far, I find it to be a very smooth shaver.

Just a quick two pass shave minus touch ups. Ended up working late and didn't really have the energy to shave. I had to though because my Fine platinum arrived. I wasn't at all keen upon first application but 20 minutes in..... It's beautiful. Apologies for the lack of effort in my post. Enjoy the weekend everyone.

Great pic of you and your dad. I'm really amazed that you and your wife are making such a change. I admire your bravery. It's something me and my wife dream of but sadly I think it will remain a dream for many many years. Well done to you :happy088:

Was going to shave but decided after a quick mirror check I decided to let it heal. I did bathe the cat today. More blood was shed today then there was yesterday.

Three passes for an irritation free BBS today. There is nothing left to learn with this focus so will be ending it after tomorrows shave and enjoy some of my other SE razor for the rest of the month.

    Feb 21 Focus Shave 15

Today's razor is my Dovo Bismarck 2, it was refreshed with Shapton 12/15k followed by Dovo Red/Black paste. This is the second shave. I am using it today because it has a pin that keeps coming loose so she will be sent across the ocean to be repined.

As usual this blade makes a lot of noise, well more like music. The edge was very smooth. Four passes, no blood and I didn't feel any irritation. The alum gave a little feedback and BBS. I a fine Sunday shave.

    Mongoose Focus
My new blades arrived today. I opened the Feather Professional Super package and loaded a blade. I had a day and a half of growth, which is fairly heavy, and had heard that this blade was very aggressive. I lathered up some TOBS Grapefruit and with some trepidation put blade to face. The clouds parted and I suddenly heard beautiful singing. (Oops that was @Primotenore on YouTube) This is the combination for my Mongoose. I did a two pass BBS with no irritation. It took a light touch, but was a pleasure to shave with. I did get a little weeper when I pressed too hard squaring up a sideburn. This razor and blade combo is staying in my rotation.

    February Focus - German blades

    February 20

    Razor - Schick Krona
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Brush - BoS Omega 10066
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
Post - Cold rinse, Alum, The Veg

Second day with the Schick Premium and Krona combo. This blade is really quite good and I think paired with a more aggressive razor might show off even a bit more than it is with the Krona. There is nothing to complain about, though, other than the lack of BBS which isn't all that critical to me. Yes I rate blades on whether or not BBS is achievable, but for my everyday purposes a high level DFS is more than sufficient.

Three passes got me to that very high end DFS without any roughness, drag or anything other than a nice smooth shave. And, again, the alum was very quiet. Perfect shave to add the Mighty Veg to and hit the sales floor running on a Saturday. Again, no BBS but only a 1/2 stein reduction. That leaves 4.5 again for this blade. Great way to start the day.

There is no family resemblance between your Dad and you. None. Nope, don't see it. Nada. ;) Western KY and TN. Hmmmmmmm. Hog and tobacco. Hmmmmmmm. The hogs I get, tobacco not so much but then I always did enjoy a good pipe back in the day. And we need more hog farmers to keep the bacon supply steady (though I stick close to turkey bacon these days....thanks doc) :angry019:

My best thoughts and energies are with you. Always hope for the best for you and yours and I may be more likely to travel to those parts than Eastern Colorado anytime soon anyway.

Welcome back and I love the pic with dad! Definitely a good resemblance!

My great grandparents and grandparents on my mom's side were both tobacco farmers. They also had chickens and hogs. After they all died the land was divided up to aunt's and uncles. I think one still does some farming but most of the old barns and out buildings have all been torn down or are falling down. I keep planning to go back to see if any stand so I can reclaim some of the lumber to use in projects around my house. My prayer is that God will bless your new endeavour and it will be everything you hope and desire!
