You didn't say how you thought the brush felt on the face though......

Thank you Sir! I am a firm believer that the results largely lie in the techniques. It's all discretionary luxury after that, to the heart's content of the individual shaver.

When I use my 48 with Arko, it's like a South Beach Foam Party, then I degrease my truck with the leftovers! You ain't kidding!

What was that you said?! Results largely lie in the technique?! Heresy, sir, heresy!! Oh wait......that's why we're here!! :bounce017:

I did a little bit of reading, had a good conversation with a well informed Badger user ( Thank you Jared!) and set the knot at about midway in the aluminum ferrule. It's not near as floppy as my other two badger brushes. They are both Vulfix's & not as densely packed as this knot from Larry at Whipped Dog.
I like the feel of the brush tips, a little prickly in a good exfoliating way. I'll use it a couple times to be sure. I suspect I may drop it the remaining 1/4 inch for a bit tighter throttling and even more backbone.
As it is; less fluffy clouds, more bees knees!

    Timeless OC .95 Gap
    Feather (3)
    WDC-6 with Sunrise Synthetic
    Route 66 Rum Runner

This combo just clicks together. The WDC-6 lathers up the Route 66 with little effort. As usual the Route 66 Rum Runner is slick with wonderful post shave feel and the Timeless OC delivers a 2 pass near BBS. I really can't get expect much better on a work morning. I finished up the shave with a splash of Captain's Choice Bay Rum. I hope everyone has a great Thursday.

    February 2 SOTD:

    Omega Boar Brush
    WSP Barbershop
    Merkur Futur
    Stirling Unscented PSB
    WSP Barbershop AS

OK, I decided I would actually use my Futur in this month's Futur Focus. Still set on one, and it produced a two pass DFS. I feel I have the angle down, so I progress the setting a bit to see how it goes. The shave was definitely set up by a great boar brush and soap combination. I have say, I really like the WSP soap, and the aftershave is good, too. I hope everyone has a great day!

I'm in as well. I'm going to focus on my new Mühle Rocca razor for 30 days. Because I want to explore it, I am not going to limit myself to one soap or blade.

They are tough to find and expensive once you find them. I hear that you only live once. :)

2/2/17 - Fatboy Feather February continues...

Can you imagine what it would have been like to spend $1.95 back in the days that the Gillette Adjustable came out? It was the height of shaving technology in the 50's and some could argue that it still is! If I were to average out the purchase price of the 3 Fatboys I own it would come up to $14. Not bad considering this is nearly 60 years later.

On a related note, I just finished lather #38 with TSD Spice type soap. This is the thinner puck and it provides amazing protection. The rind gave way today, so I won't be able to get 40 shaves out of it, but it will be going into my leftovers tub to become part of the great amalgamation. Regardless of how long the soaps lasts, @Queen of Blades makes some fantastic soaps. If you've not tried them, you owe it to yourself to give them a go and support our little corner of the internet!

February 2 (Thursday) - PAL in FatBoy focus

    Gillette Fatboy E1 on 3
PAL Gold Thin Hollow Ground carbon (29)
    Supply Provision synthetic brush
The Eternal Tub of TOBS Avocado Cream ( croap )
Alum and Thayers Witch Hazel Lavender

Good lather well applied by this brush. The PAL blade in its 2nd outing in the Fatboy and its 29th since being called to active service mowed effortlessly through the stubble.

In fact, everything went so well that when I reached my neck I whipped into XTG passes around my Adams apple with the debonair insouciance of a true Fatboy maestro. Alas, the alum disagreed and issued me a stinging rebuke, reminding me that I am still a mere student in this Shave School and not yet an alum myself. Fortunately the Thayers WH soothed everything down with no lasting irritation.

Tomorrow I will concentrate on less flash and more technique.
