Absolutely right. Pickled ginger also contains alkaloids that are poisonous to things like tapeworms and such. It's actually a safety measure, and should be eaten liberally with any raw ocean dwelling fish. The eel that @RyX likes is a river eel, and must be cooked.

I do two passes every day, one with the grain, one against. I shaved 355 days last year, so I average about thirty per month. I only skip if I am too windburned or simply out of time in the evenings. My job is at an agricultural warehouse, so being dressed in appropriate warm clothing and shoes is more important than BBS.

That helps to explain why I now enjoy my shaves. All those years punching a time clock and using carts VS. semi-retired and shaving when I please.

In MN, abstaining from fried fish is an almost unspeakable act. In fact, I'm not sure it has ever happened before. Talk about hearing a pin drop.

I do like this one. I get the references made to root beer, as it does have a likeness to it. I definitely get the Frankincense and quite a bit of nutmeg and cloves. There is a sense of vanilla, too, which I guess is from the benzoin. The soap (and AS) has a little bit of the smell you might get when they burn incense at a Catholic Church, but without the burnt smell. I think that Frankincense and Benzoin are sometimes (?) used in this incense, so that would make sense.

It is quite honestly my favorite soap sent. And, it turns out my wife likes it quite a bit, too. It isn't her favorite, but she always comments on it when I wear it. I buy the bath soap fairly often, and she enjoys

In MN, I'd just tell them (truthfully) that my celiac spruce precludes eating traditionally battered foods of any sort, and that it really sucks that I can't share in the bounty offered by the land of ten-thousand lakes. I would be down for helping get the fish out of the lakes though!

    Would be fun.

Fried catfish is available 24/7 here. With Lent approaching even more so. Sashimi & sushi are making inroads. I enjoy watching the folks making rolls at Krogers. Now I have a taste for herring in cream sauce.

Love me some pickled herring. Better yet, pickled northern.

As a kid, my dad and I would eat jars of that on fishing trips to a lake in Eastern New Mexico. He used to always tell me it made for lonely nights, and I never understood what he meant. Now that I am married, I don't eat it. ;)

I've not tried pickled northern, and I don't know that I've seen it around my neck of the woods. Sounds like something I would try when SWMBO is out of town.

First rate setup. The Hempel Handle looks great with the Timeless OC. I bet the Timeless OC is efficient enough to really let the Personna 74 last a long time.

Is it celiac safe? What's in it, roughly? I like ceviché, Hispanic pickled fish.

Thank you Clint. This Hempel Handle is one of my favorites. The amazing Timeless .95 OC gives me some of the closest, most comfortable, near if not BBS shaves I get. This brush is outstanding, so much so that the lather I squeezed out of the brush allowed me to do a 4 th pass XTG in the opposite direction.
I hope your team has a good game today, but not to good. :happy102:
