I've been waiting for this shave. The chance to try the Sharp Star in the Fatboy. Sharp Star is the Moscow blade made only in 2012 for the Asian market (think India, Pakinstan etc.). I've loved the blade since I first tried it and have several hundred in my den. Since it's NOS I have no idea when it will no longer be available in the wild. Which also explains the 300 currently sitting in the main Post Office in Moscow awaiting release to come to Papa. They'll be followed by 200 assorted Moscow blades that you'll hear more about in a couple of weeks. Those whispers and rumors and uneasy feelings you've been having? Yep, the Cartel is moving blades.

Tonight was nothing less than a stellar shave with the Fatboy on 3 and the Sharp Star on board. A little extra luxury with the Silvertip and Tabac that made a rather difficult week at work disappear. The weekend for me is here and this was a great way to start. Two passes and touch up to a very fine DFS, smooth as silk, silent alum....it's all good. Hope your weekend was a great one and that your Monday starts off the right way!

 

Next brush up is a brush that has given me challenges, a Thäter silver tip. I love Thäter brushes but I usually prefer fans and this is a bulb. Being a bulb it has more backbone than my fan shaped Thäters.

Today's razor was a Cobra Classic with a fresh pro blades. The soap was vintage Old Spice but all the scent is gone so add a little Old Spice AS to the lather. The brush has allot backbone and made short work of the soap. It is a shame the scent is all gone as this soap performs great. 4 passes and just a little feedback from the alum and BBS. Some vintage Derby AS to finish off the shave.

This month is running way above average and I'm loving it! I am keeping up, if a bit late at times. I just go back and read three or four pages and then use my days off to get totally up to date. Lots of great stuff going on in choice of gear, amount of learning happening, great pics and the shenanigans just keep popping up.

 

I'm looking into some of the past months but if we hit 3000 it will be WAYYYYYYY over the top. We've been in the low to mid 2000's before, so this could indeed be a record breaker. Loving it!

Day Twelve



Yesterday's shave was so nice, I repeated the setup. The day three Voskhod was up to the task, and twice removed the Barbasol for a two pass DFS. Silent alum and more Barbus. If you like AV, see if you can find this stuff. It's similar, but unique in a good way. I had a super productive afternoon! Moved some electrical outlets, reconfigured my music practice space, dialed in a distortion guitar pedal, ripped gigs upon gigs of CDs into a new laptop, cooked a five dish Indian meal, rewired a lamp for Mrs. Samurai, and read part of a book, all while doing five loads of laundry. Other than that...all is quiet in Colorado.

Yes but if I open March on February 27th it creates a 33 day month. This is getting to be more confusing than Daylight Savings Time!!

 

That is exactly why I like it. No stuffiness, just enough light-hearted banter mixed in with helpful advice, encouraging, enabling and shenanigans. You don't find that just anywhere.
